That's how I do it.
Those trimmers run $20+ so I said screw it. May take a little longer, but I have a piece of oak scrap, a really heavy straightedge/ruler, and and exacto and I get great edges.

actually, go to walmart to get a trimmer. I picked one up last weekend for $10-11. It is definitely worth it
