    R.a.Dickey

Wow looks like the mets might've found a diamond in the rough,he is the first mets pitcher to ever start his career 6-0,where did he come from.

Ugh, i'm very dissapointed, Tigers had him on the ropes the first few innings but choked at the oppurtunities...and Leyland cost the team any chance to win when he pulls Bonderman after 70 pitches

That's just about every game Dickey has pitched. He's constantly in trouble (I think he only looked really solid in one start), but gets out of trouble all the time. He's been great. Every time he's out there you have to hold your breath, but he keeps coming through.

And Bonderman was starting to fade there. But I think the fact that Leyland was ready to pinch hit for him clouded his judgment, and he pulled him earlier than he would have normally.

Let him have atleast one more batter, the fact Leyland was going to pinch hit Raburn when Bonderman had thrown 60 pitches, says how the season has gone for Detroit, its the third time he's pulled Bonderman to early. I've been counting..Leyland ruined Bondermans quality start, until that 7th inning, he was just cruising along, the homer to Reyes and the hit by Wright were the only mistakes he made, other that that the Mets were shut down..I guess i just believe Bonderman should've been given more time to work out of it..

Dickey was spectaular the later the game went on though

Dickey didn't really come out of nowhere. He's a 36 year old journeyman that's pitching for his 4th team. He sports a tidy 5.13 ERA for his career. Considering that he's spent the majority of his career (until this season) in the American league, he is probably successful because of a much lighter hitting National League, not playing in Texas, and facing batters who likely haven't seen him more than once. I would fully expect him to come back to earth, sometime soon. That said, each year one of these guys comes in and pitches/hits well above their abilities. He could very well last all season long. Read up on Esteban Loaiza, before getting your hopes up though.....lol.

It's nice to see R.A. finally having some success somewhere, even if it is only for part of a season. It's too bad things didn't work out for him in Texas, but we definately gave him an adequate chance since he spent 5 seasons with the Rangers. Unfortunately his Rangers seasons ranged from bad to awful.

He came from the University of Tennessee! And I would say he is starting to get a good feel for that knuckleball he learnt a coulple seasons ago.
