Beckett's generous Strasburg card grading fuels customer backlash

I notice the same people on eBay with 100s of BGS 9.5s. It appears BGS has been caught big time with there recent Strasburg 9.5 grade!

BGS is a joke - and always has been a joke. I don't understand why people don't get this. Other then perhaps using them to authenticate a card (like a Jordan RC) I would NEVER send anything to them. Giving realistic grades means less people sending in their cards - less profit. The amount of 9.5's out there anymore is so artifically overblown because of the need for repeat customers it is ridiculous.

I think its funny that people have comments on the condition w/out seeing it in person. IMO this story is nothing but opinions. I don't buy alot of BGS cards but I have found that they do a terrific job w/ modern products.

Its more about the underlying biases rather than a judgment of the card's condition...

You really dont need to see the card when you have a beckett talk about the card. They themselves say the card has chipping its off centered but yet "it falls in their guidlines" What BS I bet there are tons of people on these forums that have sent in better quality cards then this one that had worse grades. 9.5 is "supposed to be reserved for Gem mint" that is the bottom line.

I found that out the hard way. I bought from a seller on ebay who literally had 100's of BGS 9.5. I bought an Andy Marty Finest AU RC Graded BGS 9.5. The centering on the back is literally 80/20 if not worse as well as some obvious chipping along the edges on the back. After then, I refused to buy BGS graded cards. Love the holders, hate the graders.

These grading companies need to implement a policy many coin grading companies have. If you feel a card is over graded, resubmit it. If it grades lower, your fees are refunded and the difference in fair market value between grades is given for the coin.

The centering is borderline 8.5-9 and some very minor chipping is within the 9.5 range.

I'm guessing their are plenty of submitters who have had cards under or over graded. No business is perfect but overall grading among the big 3 is pretty accurate.
