    Oilers need a new Captain.......

BLUE JACKETS CLAIM VETERAN WINGER MOREAU ON WAIVERS

The Columbus Blue Jackets have claimed veteran winger Ethan Moreau on waivers.

Moreau, 34, had nine goals, 18 points and a minus-4 rating in 76 games as the captain of the Edmonton Oilers last season

Don't be surprised if the Oil run without a captain this season, which is probably a good idea as we need a player to step into the role first.

we'll trade you Smyth back for Souray and Cogs after the Kings sign Kovalchuk. then you can make him captain.

forget that offer - thought souray only had one year left. i'd also rather have smyth over souray if we have them both for two years.

i'd take dustin penner for smyth though.

I really hope not. I won't be surprised if they do it (not have one) but I hate it when teams do that. Just name one. If you made a bad choice, pick a new one next year.

My money is on Horcoff. He's been there for a long time, has a long time to go on his current contract...... and despite some awful play last year, he has always come across as a leader on the team.

I'm pumped to have him on my team - but I'd be absolutly shocked to see him made the first Rookie Captain ever.

If he's appropriate 'C' material in 2 or 3 years - give it to him then.

People moan about 'Stripping the C' off a player's chest, but it doesn't bother me at all. Coach should know who the leader of this team is, by the end of training camp (at the absolute latest). Whoever that is, make him the Captain.

When that person is Hall, make him the Captain.

    Two words.

The only real choice for captain is Horcoff. Which is too bad cause I'd love to see him out of here too...great third liner but that salary.

I am not a fan of when teams play with out a captain a la the Montreal Canadiens last year. Horcoff is the logical choice from me.
