    Wisconsin Captain McDonagh Signs With Rangers

    July 6 — Ryan McDonagh has made it official: The Wisconsin defenseman is heading to the pros.

    McDonagh has agreed to terms with the New York Rangers and is the fourth player this offseason to leave the Badgers with eligibility remaining.

    As a Habs fan I wish him well. His development wasn't on the projected track and that made him expendable in the Gomez deal. All things considered, Habs are better off today having done the trade.

    and so are the Rangers. since then, we've been able to drop Gomez AND his cap hit a few years early. Higgins, Kotalik, and Jokinen too.

    win win all around.
