I've heard of crazy shipping charges but I just don't know what to say...
I won 4 mini football helmets on Ebay from the same seller - all auction style. The seller mentions in the auctions that he is happy to combine shipping. Each originally was $8 each - which isn't the worst shipping on minis - which come in at less than a pound including packaging and a USPS priority box. One helmet ships for about $5.
So my discounted shipping for four helmets which will be easily less than 4 pounds? $24!! I ask him if that was accurate but no response so far - I'm guessing it is.
What the heck! So my options are to not pay - or to pay and leave negative - which I will do in a heartbeat. A third option would be to decline the offer of combined shipping and pay thye extra $8 and tell him that I expect the helmets to be shipped seperately.
Thoughts?

If am thinking about this right all 4 should fit inside a large priority box whats that 11.00 so he thinks he should get 13.00 for his trouble i think not.
decline the offer of combined shipping and pay the extra $8 and tell him that I expect the helmets to be shipped seperately. As for leaving a neg. you still bidding on the items so real hard to complain to him about it now. If he is any kind of a seller he should take off more money.

I realize it's Monday morning and maybe I'm still a little sleepy so please let me know if I have this right.
You buy 4 items with an $8 shiiping charge on each item.
Seller states he combines shipping.
Buyer does not inquire about what combined shipping actually is.
Seller DOES in fact take off 25% of full shipping.
Buyer then comtemplates completing transaction THEN leaving negative feedback for something he agreed to.
Please post your Ebay ID as I can block you from bigging on my items as you were too lazy to do a little homework and then want to "hurt" seller

I think it'd be just as bad to leave a negative feedback for this. Sure, it may be a little harsh when it comes to the discount for shipping (even if it is a 25 % discount), but I'll agree with jlz. If there was any question I would have asked the seller before I bid. I mean he wasn't dishonest in saying that he'd discount multiple items. And he did take off the shipping cost for one full helmet. I dunno......

I have no problem not bidding on any of your auctions but $24 to ship a 4 pound package is crazy. The actual shipping or priority with DC will be around $10. Is it a discount? Yes, if you want to be technical. But look at it like this. Each helmet would have been $5 to ship with DC not including label etc. His "handling" charge would have been less than $3 each. Now he has to print one label, collect one payment (slightly lower paypal fees) and pack one box and the handling goes up? Yea, I am not happy. And I don't mind paying a little extra but it's not reasonable.
As far as your auctions, I have 800+ feedback here and 800+ there all at 100% from buying and selling. So you let me know your ebay screen name and I'll be sure to NOT bid on anything you sell since you obviously condone ripping people off on shipping prices.

You have a valid point there. The only thing I can say otherwise is that still you should know exactly what you're getting into before you get into it. I'd just give the seller a day or so and see if he responds. Maybe he'll take some off of your shipping costs.
Like I said in my previous post. I don't know... this is one of those situations where it's like the old cliche quote. "You're darned if you do, and darned if you don't."

I agree that it would be bad to leave negative for this. He did combine shipping although as a seller I don't think he combined it enough. However he has the right to combine how he sees fit. I usually ask ahead of time to get a shipping quote so I don't fall into something like this. I think it was your responsibility to check before buying. If you don't want to pay I'd ask him if he'd let you out of the deals since you didn't realize that shipping would be this much for something that will fit into a $12 flat rate box. Maybe he'll work with you.
I don't disagree with you that it's still over charged, but you can't assume that you are on the same page with the seller when it comes to how he combines shipping.

He wrote back and we worked it out. I apologized if I had an attitude to him. Total shipping was $14.50

I know what both of you are saying. I just felt too comfortable since I don't mind paying a little extra when I'm buying and I've done this many times before without any issue whether exact prices are stated in the auction or not.

Obviously you have an issue with reading comprehension. In no way did I condone anything. If these were my items the total shipping would have been no more than $16.
What I have an issue with it YOU making assumptions and then NOT LIKING what the seller did for combined shipping.
If you had been a little proactive and asked then you wouldn't have needed to come complain about a seller that did nothing wrong.
This is 100% on you because you KNEW shipping would have been a max of $32
Edit: I am glad everything worked out for you
