    Who has come the farthest?

    There are alot of NBA players who are drafted, with little to no hope of ever becoming an NBA star. Who in your opinion, has busted that wall down and become a great NBA player?

    I have two guys in my mind:

    Steve Nash:
    Was drafted in 1996 to the Phoenix Suns with little to no hope of breaking the starting lineup with Jason Kidd steadily at the controls. He rode the bench for two seasons there soaking up all he could until being traded in 1998 to the Dallas Mavericks. Just to tell you how little Phoenix valued him, they traded him for Bubba Wells, Martin Müürsepp and the draft rights to Pat Garrity. Since then... he has been Mr. Assist, winning two NBA MVPs along the way.

    Gerald Wallace:
    Drafted by the Kings with the 25th pick in 2001, he was stuck on the bench for 3 seasons. In 2004 the Bobcats saved him by drafting him in the expansion draft and inserting him into the starting lineup, averaging 11.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.7 steals and 1.3 blocks a game. He has gone on to become an NBA All-Star and a great rebounder and shot blocker.

    I don't know if these guys had great expectations going into the NBA but I think that Glen Davis has far exceeded anyone's expectations! For being his size, he's done really well.

    I would say Gilbert Arenas. Other potential players: Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili, Ben Wallace, Mo Williams, Monta Ellis, Carlos Boozer, Michael Redd

    I like the Ben Wallace pick. Not big on the Arenas pick though... I really think that he has been over-hyped since he was promoted up through the Golden State school of scorers-r-us.
