    UD's Tweet Re: The Cup

This from Upper Deck's Twitter account:

The Cup is packing out with over 93% live auto content in. Crosby and Malkin recently signed. Most redemptions are multi-signed cards.

That seems pretty decent. Of course, we should probably talk to the people who end up with the other 7%...lol!

When you take into consideration how late the product is already I think 93% is awfully bad. UD has had more than enough time to get players to sign prior to release, and still has 7% unaccounted for.

I don't know about the rest of you, but once this product is finally released if I pulled a redemption I would be pretty freaking irratated. I can only imagine whom they have been waiting on this long aside from Malkin and Crosby??

I agree with the fact that UD has had more than enough time to get its affairs in order, but don't we have to take into consideration the possibility that some of the players may have been a little too cavalier with regard to fulfilling their responsibilities?

I'll place blame where it's due, and where UD is concerned, much of it is warranted. But is it entirely UD's fault? Shouldn't we accept the fact that maybe the players are culpable in this, as well?

    Just some food for thought.

UD can only get the cards to the players for them to sign. They can't make them sit down and sign them.

If I was a player I would rather enjoy my free time to spend with my family and friends and just relaxing. And if my team had just won the Cup I know I would be having a grand old time.

I agree that there may be players that have taken their sweet time signing the hundreds of stickers that UD sends them. Therefore not all of the blame should be placed on UD's shoulders.

That being said, UD has delayed this product over and over again. I am sure that it is a result of their financial situation, auto's not being returned, etc...but as a company that has these players under "contract" they have the law on their side in terms of forcing the players to sign by a given deadline. They are getting paid to sign and UD should rightfully mandate that the players get the job done as they are contractually obligated to do so.

And again when UD tells me that a previous season's product that has been delayed until just days before the start of the next season is being released with 7% of the product inserted as redemptions it is hard to not point the finger at them.

As collector's we pay good money for their products(understanding it's our own choice) and I expect better than this after all the delays.

I agree that if I were playing in one of the 4 major professional sports leagues I too would like to enjoy my offseason as it is truly not that long if you consider spring training, camps, etc...

But again, the players are contractually obligated to sign for UD as they are being paid(some quite well) to sign the stickers and cards sent to them. If a player signs the contract they are bound to the terms of that contract. Not having seen one of the contracts I can only assume that UD includes a deadline for items to be returned by.

It is on the players as well and how many want to do a long signing ovver the summer when they get full time with their family. As for the contract statement i doubt there is a deadline as if upperdeck or any company was to force it, do you think the player would sign for the company again

And by no means am i saying it is just the players fault. I know if it was me i would not want to sit down 22 time a year to sign different products
