2007-08 07-08 Exquisite Auto Patch Kevin Durant RC #/99

Why is this card selling for $2000. Seriously most cards are not worth the paper they are printed on and some cards get $2000 on ebay. The card is not that rare or anything, and it is damaged.

$2000 is nothing. Many cards already break 2000 mark easily. I'm on the same boat with you on the question with damage part. It is kind of high price already with 6 days left.

Does a $30,000 car have $30K worth of parts?

I don't understand either, especially with the damage which looks terrible.

Maybe whoever wins it plans on going to UD asking if they can replace it with something of equal value and hence end up with a mint card of value?

This is my 100% subjective opinion, but...

That same exact card sold for $1500 a couple of weeks ago. And at the time, I didn't notice any damage on it, but maybe I didn't look hard enough. Now it's relisted and already over $2000? It has a significant flaw, the auto is terrible, and it has a 1-color patch... A BGS 9 2-color just sold for $2500. Two different 2-colors in good condition sold for $2300 and $2100 less than a month ago. Seems fishy to me. But whatever...

To the OP's point though, stuff is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. What makes gold worth anything? Why would anyone pay thousands of dollars for a painting? Why would anyone pay money for antiques... which is just old garbage to 99.9% of the population at-large? Same answer to everything... people want it and are willing to pay X to get it. The Durant Exquisite is pretty rare (only 99) and is arguably the most collectible card of the hottest player in the NBA right now in terms of potential.

What's $2k? Some people are willing to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars (if not more) on luxury items such as watches and whatever else is in vogue at the moment. I think the reason why KD prices are starting to jump even higher than ever before is because people are starting to realize how scarce his high-end stuff actually is. There are some serious KD collectors coming out of the woodworks and some of them have such deep pockets that would boggle the mind if you actually knew how they spent their money!

maybe whoever put in the high bid didn't read the description until now. The bidding has somewhat stalled the last couple of days...

Good luck with that LOL!!!! Go back and look at my blog I started about replacements. If they sent that durant back in they would probably get a al Horford auto in return. UD sucks big time when it comes to replacing cards.

...and it's already been relisted. I was pretty confident $2000 was an unrealistic price for this card. Given the damage, I'd say it's a $1200 card.
