LCS Vs. Ebay
Ok guys.. let me sum up the past year for you in a few sentences.. I got back in the hobby this year.. around playoff time last season.. At first I was collecting alot of stuff. Now im onto just my main PC and a few leaf cards. Over the past few months ive grabbed a few nice cards off ebay.. including autos and opc premier stitchings..I tried auctioning 3 of my premier stitches and nothing sold for .99 cents. Im just wondering what your local card shops do on trade ins.. do they take anything with a decent BV? i want to trade in about 400BV of cards and possibly just straight up trade for a hobby box of something new.. my plan was to sell them individually on ebay but that didnt quiet pan out.. so i guess the main question is.. what do your LCS's do for you when you bring in cards.. only cash offers? only trade offers? a little of both? or are most cards shops only picking up high end stuff and they break what they sell from boxes..

Most take trades or offer cash for cards they know they can move. Chances are, if you weren't able to sell them on ebay, they also know it is going to be hard to move them and won't give you much for them.
I've never known of a card shop that will take cards in trade for unopened product, there is just way more money in unopened product. Maybe they would if it was a really high end item.

Yeah most card shops are usually pretty relaxed. Most LCS's offer either a trade night or will trade you for whatever you have. Theres another shop in London that i go to on Thursday (Freshers) and they usually have a trade night. I usually make a few trades with other members and a couple with the owners. But remember, card shop owners are also collectors, so they only want things that have a better chance to sell.

The one card shop I went to in my area (central NJ) only buys stuff that he can flip really quick, and doesn't take trades. He wasn't to accomadating, and only just seems to be doing it for the money.
Wish I could find a trade night at an LCS in NJ

I live in pa and my shop will buy trade and swap for unopened product but he pretty much only takes pens stuff but it can be any product just recently I took a bunch of pens stuff including holo fxs from this year and jersey and auto cards only my doubles but I ended up trading for a box of spa 09-10 but my LCS prices are a bit high so I tend to get most stuff from online

My LCS is kind of like the ones I mentioned above. The guy will look up the completed auction on eBay and if he can't get it cheaper than what they sell for on eBay he won't buy them. Besides that, the store is sweet and the prices are really good.

If I may ask, what is your LCS? I've been looking for one that actually stocks hockey, the store I go to now hasn't gotten product since 07/08
