Jason Bonham's Led Zeppelin Experience
Has anyone heard of this or seen them? It's Jason Bonham (the son of late Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham) and his band. They're doing a current tour around the U.S. playing all Zeppelin songs. The setlist consists of:
Immigrant Song
Celebration Day
I Can't Quit You Baby
Your Time Is Gonna Come
Babe I'm Gonna Leave You
Dazed And Confused
The Lemon Song
Thank You
Moby Dick
Friends
Since I've Been Loving You
Black Dog
The Ocean
The Song Remains The Same
I'm Gonna Crawl
Stairway To Heaven
Kashmir
Whole Lotta Love
Rock & Roll
And from what I see on YouTube (They have some official videos from concertS), the whole band sounds authentic. Yes, Jason is the drummer, after his father. Here's a couple videos featuring them playing "Kashmir" and "Black Dog":
Anyways, I had heard about them over the summer, and thought that it sounded pretty cool. They're in Boston on this coming Tuesday, Nov. 2nd. One of my friends who I attend most concerts with, ask me if I wanted to join them on Tuesday. Hoping for a good show! It's @ the Boston Oprheum theater.

Interesting...I've seen Zoso, a Led cover band. They're very good and the lead singer looks and performs like Robert Plant...very authentic (from what I can tell having never seen Led live).

The Bonham experience looks pretty good. From what they said we have balcony seats center stage placed.
I really hope Page & JPJ continue to try and find a singer to get back together soon with. I need to see Page perform live before I die.

Led Zeppelin was nothing more than a cover band considering the amount of music they stole tried to pass it off as their own.

Well honestly I would've never called them a "cover" band... yeah they've had some copy right mishaps. The biggest ones I can think of were a couple phrases in "Whole Lotta Love" were in an older song, and a guitar part was in one of their songs from Jimmy Page's years in the Yardbirds.
Honestly, say what you will about them, but it's not like they completely ripped off a bunch of artists from their work... They still have a ton of classic hits that were straight from themselves....

Well, if the shoe fits...
All of their first album was ripped off from others with the lone exception of Good Times, Bad Times.
Stairway to Heaven's guitar line was a ripoff of "Spirit" by Taurus.
The Lemon Song, Whole Lotta Love, Nobody's Fault But Mine, Bring It On Home, Custard Pie, Hats Off to Roy Harper, In My Time of Dying, Moby Dick, Since I've Been Loving You, Trampled Underfoot, and White Summer were all lifted from other musicians in some way, shape, or form.
Several songs were also taken from Page's time in the Yardbirds.
Many of the blatantly stolen songs were not credited to the original artists until the band was sued. While the Beatles' first album was half covers, they at least appropriately credit the original artists.

I see your guys' point about them. But I'm just going to stick with my opinion that, even if all those were taken from parts of others songs, I think most people can agree Zeppelin would've been known for them better either way, and they were just great performers.
Also, I just got in from this show tonight ^ and it was just phenominal.

I don't have a problem with musicians performing others' songs. Just own up to the fact, and that's where I take issue with Zeppelin. While yes, they would have been the best known performers of the songs anyway, they should give credit where credit is due and admit that, while they did perform them, they didn't write them.
That being said, they're still one of my favorite bands. John Paul Jones is an incredible underrated musician.

Yep, that's pretty much my thoughts. Sure, back in the late 60's and 70's while making these songs, it would've been nice to get the credits out there right then, avoiding further issues. But anyone who hates them just for this, and who doesn't appreciate how they can turn that used guitar tone or whatever it is, into one of their what, 20 or so major hits? Zeppelin is one of the greatest classic rock bands out there. Jimmy Page is one of my favorite guitarists and I would kill to see him live when (him and JPJ) when they tour again, with or without Plant.
