Goaltender Problems...
Hey guys as most of you know I am a big Peter mueller Collector. I am looking for another Challange in adding a Goalie to the mix... Mainly cause my little brother and Nephew are superb goalies both play high level hockey. I am wanting to add a Rookie goalie from 2009-10 with atleast 100+ cards... but mainly UD Cards not ITG(not a big fan). Like what Goalies would be good to collect which one's would be a bust kind of thing... Like what about Riku Helenius of the Tampa Bay lighting?
Thoughts?
and a quick heads up... jhonas enroth and Devan Dubnyk are not options for me.
Plmk
Brandon
p.s. May go into 08-09 but really want 09-10... maybe is there one for 10-11?

Riku Helenius is 5th on the depth chart of the Tampa Bay lightning.
He has 4 goalies in front of him with an ability to do really well. Plus he was sent overseas last season and UD still makes cards of him.
I would suggest finding a goalie who's style you like, and sticking with it.
Mine for example Dustin Tokarski (#3 on that same depth chart) is my pc because of his performance during the World Juniors. Including the save that is oh so famous.
Find one you like, with a moderate amount of cards, and collect just to collect. Not to fit into any rules or value

That funny thing is...
I want to collect 2 goalies.. but 1 has the most high end cards you will find.... Carey Price
and the other has 1 card and it's a base card... Tyler bunz
I kind of just wanted a list a guess of who the rookie goalies are from 08-09 to 10-11

Well you could go with Price but Richard may put a price on your head (just kidding...the stuff i come up with a 4.45 am lol), you could also go for the Kings' Bernier or Quick? The Bruins' Rask wouldn't be a bad choice either although he seems to have trouble fighting off Thomas right now, Gustavson in Toronto could also be a viable option but like the Habs, Toronto gets a lot of hobby love so there would be competition...
Those are the few i can think of who are fairly new and have a lot of cards at the top of my head :)

What about Neuvirth of the Capitals? He had his rookie year in 2009-10, and he is the number two guy on a team goalie-coached by Arturs Irbe.
Niemi had a good rookie year in 2009-10 and a bunch of cards released by this point, most by Upper Deck.
Gustavsson for the Leafs is also a good goaltender from 2009-10 with many cards to collect.
This year, Bobrovsky is the best rookie goalie so far. Honorable mention goes to Anders Lindback.
It really depends on you though. You could even be "late for the show" and collect an older goalie, but starting late is tough as many of the best stuff are in others' collections.

Ya I found out the Being "late for the show" isn't that great
I found that out with Mueller.... But I have been collecting him since I began collecting in like 2008 or 09 not to sure.. but I think 09. Ya it would be 08 cause I pulled my first mueller out of 08-09 BAP. The main reason I want this years is cause I like the look of the cards... but maybe I will go with a player.. since there arent that many Goaltenders to choose from this year... but maybe Gustavsson

Go with a goalie you like and the style he plays. Or you'll be selling it before the end of the season.
That said, depending on your budget, Neuvirth would be a good shout IF you have a decent budget as his cards are and will get higher in price.

Neuvirth should have a bright future, but he's stuck on a team with another good young goalie in Varlamov. Still, I think he has some upside and I know he's had cards in most of the 2009 products that can be found at decent prices.

I love Bryzgalov (01-02 rookie) and am going to start collecting Cory Schneider cause he is awesome (08-09 rookie). Bobrovsky (10-11) and Neuvirth (09-10) seem to be the next two hot goalies. Price has always been collected and I think Halak is pretty well collected too, or is pretty hot. I would like Anders Lindback (10-11) to be the best big thing (just like the name for some reason) but Atlanta is stacked with goalies at the moment.
So many good goalies these days. My cousin collects Lundqvist.
