i am trying to find the easiest program available to put my cards on. using Access or excel would still require me to type every part of the card on. from what i saw with Pro-Sports 2011 Sports Card Software it just sseems like you enter the players name and number and it sorts thruogh all that players cards and you click the one you have. that would be 1000x faster than making my own data base. i guess a database would be easy if you were starting from scratch and each card you got you put up as you get it. but i am way behind and have hundreds of thousands of cards already. so for me to go back now and add every card by typing up each one would take years.

but can you only access the SCF inventory system while on the internet?
can you save it to a flash drive and send it as a file?
like access or excel you can use anytime / save to a disc and carry it along with you...

There is a way to transfer it to excel spreadsheet I believe... Honestly, I have not tried it but i believe Luke would be able to explain how to do it or if it isnt possible yet i know it is coming.

EDIT - Actually I just put it into an excel file and it was very easy... When you put them in click on "my inventory" > Back Up Your Inventory > Download File

thanks for the link...I'll check it out.

As for my own, like I said I use my own Access database. I really like it...I'm still not a savy tech when it comes to working around in Access but I know enough to get it to do wat I want for now.

The things lacking right now from my database are

    1) Tracking Buying/Selling for profit/loss, sales, etc.
    2) Tracking cards as part of a set, knowing how many I have to complete, etc.
    a) With preloaded cards and sets, it would make it easier to track this because u just mark the cards you have outta dat set.

Would this 2011 software be good for tracking buying and selling, profit/loss?

for example, if I bought a lot of cards...could I track them to show me how much I made selling them individually from that big lot?

I might be able to take some ideas from this 2011 software to add to my own database...

If anybody wants to see how I have my database set up, I'd love to show y'all. Please just ask...

    Thanks!

Yes you can bring the file in a excel shreadsheet but once you have the file, you can search the card you have but can't update any quantity and then inport it back. Let's say you go to a show and manage like 200 traders, then it's easy to make a backup in excel print the page and then update on paper and update back your inventory when you have access. So yes you can bring a list but updating remain only on the server via internet. Hope it's clear, you can't make update in Excel and expect to be done in the SCF Inventory.

So for someone who do a lot of show and sell cards in them, SCF Inventory, unless they would have internet in the show, is not very usefull. FOr a internet trader that goes to a trade night here and there then it's great. Plus you can also create want list and Print them to go to a show.

just a little unclear. so if lets just say i am on an airplane where obiovusly there is no internet. i could go on to excel and play around updating cards and such. but could i go onto the SCF and use the inventory manager?

We will have a advance Inventory Manager and will cost a small fee per month/3 month/6 month/1 year subcription with auto renewal. It will work like the free Inventory, hand in hand with the store but will do so much more.
You will also have a aquired date and cost, sale date and price. It will work in a automated fashion with SCF storefront as well if one want to use it.

Check this reply I just made about it:
    https://www.sportscardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1267247

    2) Tracking cards as part of a set, knowing how many I have to complete, etc.

This will come in the free Inventory, on the set page, soon in the next version.

    a) With preloaded cards and sets, it would make it easier to track this because u just mark the cards you have outta dat set.

We have this for Card sets only:

When searching cards via the card set page feature, it list all cards on a set page. On the set page, you have a drop down list call Action (combobox) where you can select to set all card to 1. What it will do is set all cards you do not have to quantity = 1.

Now you can use a check box on top of the list on the right and this will select all cards you have from the set. Since you just set all card missing to 1, now you can edit all card by checking the check box in the Header of the list and it select all card. Then open the drop down list of possible action and select edit all selected cards.

This open all the cards from the set and then you can set the quantity using tab to go from card to card or the mouse to select the one you want to change. It work a bit like in a excel sheet. Then submit the change in one action either by typing The ENTER KEY or the button on the button of the page.

Note all this is for SCF Inventory, not the 2011 software, have no idea what it does. I coded and develop the SCF Inventory and Storefront. It still beta as we speek but very stable and very efficient to show what you have to other. More features are added monthly to the free inventory. The more complete advance inventory is for February 2011.
