Huge theft, please read, please help.

Hello, I am writing this thread on behalf, and at the request of a friend who was the victim of an unbelievable theft.
My friend decided to sell his Porsche Cayen last week. A guy contacted him about his ad and they met in Montreal for the guy to see the car. They talked for a while, negotiated a price, and made a deal in principle. The guy then asked if he could test drive the car before they finalized the deal, to which my friend said of course. While they where switching sides the guy jumped in the drivers side and peeled off in the car...gone, stolen! Apparently this has become a new common way of stealing cars in Montreal (maybe other places too). Anyhow the reason I am posting this on the hobby boards is because in the glove compartment at the time the car was stolen was a card he was on his way after to sell to me. This is the card:

09/10 UD The Cup Alexander Ovechkin/Evgeni Malkin Dual Auto/Shield

So please keep your eyes open if this card surfaces online, in a store, or at a show. It is stolen property and the police are aware of it so they can confiscate the card if anyone takes ownership of it. Most importantly if the card surfaces it may provide a link of information to ultimately find the car thief (unlikely I know, but it could happen).

Thank you on my friend's behalf for taking this matter seriously.

    Happy holidays to everyone.
    -Sean

Ouch, that card can't go unnoticed for long. Tel him to file a police report so the serial # and card name are on file.

I'd be happy to check ebay once in a while. If you have the serial number I am sure if it shows online it would be found and as you said provide that link.

I know it's 09/10, but do you have a scan of it or some sort of sample from other 09/10 dual shields? That might help. Sucks to hear about the theft.

I haven't been very active in the hobby over the last months, but will keep my eyes open if I ever see it somewhere.

Montreal..... The Car theft Capital of the World.

The President of my company had his 2 day old 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee Company leased vehicle stolen out of the parking lot of the Holiday Inn Pointe Claire while several of us were less than 100 feet away in the Bar.

A business acquaintance had his new Chrysler Mini-Van stolen from the Airport long term parking lot in Dorval, he was only gone overnight.

Another customer had his new Jeep stolen from the parkade at the Air Canada Centre while he was at the Habs game. He later rode in it as a cab then he went to the UEA.

This all happened in the 90's and at that time Montreal had more stolen vehicles per week than California had per month. Greater Montreal is 3 million people, California is 33 million.

Its not that Montreal is the Car Theft Capital of the world, but they have a lot of organized crime there and cars get flipped easily and quickly for big money.

That hockey card is more likely to get sold directly a store than a car is, that's for damn sure.

If you had picture of the patch and serial number that would make it so much better.

    .................................................. .................................................. ...

Jeeps, Min-Vans, Chevy Tahoes were all the stolen vehicles of choice when I lived in Mtl. Straight down to the docks and onto ships to the Middle East to be used by the rich and as taxis. Cops and all persons involved on the take until the ship crossed into Internartional waters.

Does no one understand or read what the card is? Asking for serial numbers or what the patch looks like? It's a 1/1 shield card....?
