The first deal Lewis for Arenas is a win for Orlando since Lewis is playing bad this season. Arenas is a much needed scoring boost off the bench for Orlando!

Now onto the Orlando-Phoenix deal. VC for J-Rich is a even swap but better for Orlando since Carter isn't what he used to be. Orlando gets Turkoglu back to replace Lewis. Pietrus will be good for Phoenix and especially Gortat because his size is desperately needed. And maybe Earl Clark can turn out to be a decent back up to Howard.

Both trades are a win-win for Orlando the way I see it.

I don't see how you can determine a trade a win when they haven't even played for their team... let's wait til they actually do something.

The Wizards got a great deal since they get expiring contract for Arenas.

Lewis doesn't have an expiring contract, he'll have 2 more years after this season i believe, however they just wont have a bad contract on the cap for as long of a period now.

I got mixed up with Carter's expiring... well Arenas's contract is only longer if he takes the player option, plus Lewis is making a ridiculous amount.

You'd have to assume he'll take the option though based on the difference in money he'd get on the open market if he were to opt out..

I know they have to play, but I think this move sets them back..Hedo is a nice move and JRich could be solid, but dealing Lewis for Arenas was a bad move I think

The only reason they did the Arenas/Lewis trade was because they got Hedo and J-Rich.

They wouldn't of done it if they didnt acquire those two.

Agree. Arenas and Lewis are both expensive so I think it's a wash. Like mentioned earlier, the big question is Arenas' health. At least now he has scorers to feed the ball to in Orlando. It's more critical now than ever that Dwight learns to play without fouling.

Wow! I guess they didn't think they could beat Boston or Miami, when it came down to crunch time. I didn't think they had to do anything so "drastic".

(Off topic: tarheelsnipe, that MJ sig is super sweet!!!)

This doesn't help them get better than Boston/Miami and probably Atlanta now. Defensively they needed to get better and they just regressed. Not to mention how they will match the size of Miami's big 2 and Boston's stable of bigs. I just don't think you make a move like this just for the purpose of making a move.

They got Hedo back. Orlando fans love him. I'm going to reserve judgment until at least the beginning of January to see how these guys play together. You're absolutely right about their weakness in the middle, though. Dwight can't play 48 minutes against Boston's interior. We'll find out Christmas day.

Dwight can't play 48 minutes because of foul trouble and T issues. That's one of the reasons Marcin got so many looks during Free Agency. The other part is that during Hedo's tenure, Dwight's post game was non-existent which called for Hedo to create more. Now that Dwight demands the ball more down low, I don't see what getting Hedo back does other than going back down memory lane.

I just think they panic'ed and they're main problem was defense. That hasn't improved and imo got much worse. I hope they didn't use the current slide as motivation because most of the guys were sick as a dog.
