    2010 Bowman Draft case + 1 box

I opened one case of Draft plus 1 box purchased separately. Overall I am happy with the break as I certainly beat the odds with my hits even if the biggest hits were not star rookies or top prospects. I had a major QC issue in the case which I am contacting Topps about.

So in reverse order, the Ugly, the Bad and the Good

    Ugly:
All of the prospects base cards had vertical lines/scratches on them. They are very fine lines but very obviously there. There are no such lines on the base prospects in the 1 box outside of the case. I would not sell or trade these cards as they are clearly damaged. So for 12 boxes that about 75 cards per box that I want to be replaced by Topps. The normal procedure for sending in cards for replacement says only 25 per request but that's not gonna fly in this case as I'd have to make 36 requests at substantial cost in time and shipping. So we'll see what happens on the phone when I call them as the email to Topps support hasn't netted a response yet.

    Bad:
Collation was not so good. I was only able to reach 1 complete set of the chrome prospects on my last box of the case. There were a couple cards in both the rookies and prospects chromes that were much harder pulls than one would expect across a whole case.

    Good:
I did very well in terms of colored autos with 1 red, 1 orange, 3 blues and 3 refractors. I pulled an Aflac from the 1 box purchased separately so that was clearly great luck. Also pulled an aflac in the case and 3 USA autos. For non-auto color I pulled an orange prospect, orange USA, some nice blues. My luck was really good in terms of rare refractors even if the players weren't the big names as I got 1 red rookie refractor, 1 red prospect refractor and 1 rookie superfractor.

I was able to buy pretty low as well so even with the damaged prospects base I came out ahead.

Each box and scans to follow

Box 1 (purchased separately from the case)

    Josh Tomlin rookie refractor
    Alex Wimmers prospect refractor
J.R. Bradley orange prospect refractor /25
    Mike Foltynewicz prospect auto
    Yasmani Grandal Aflac Auto

Clearly did well there getting the case hit Aflac auto from just a single box purchase

    Box 1 (from the case)

    Fernando Salas rookie refractor
    Bryce Brentz prospect refractor
    Mike Stanton rookie blue /399
Adrian Marin USA prospect blue refractor /199
    Kaleb Cowart prospect refractor

(removed image since max of 12 images on a post)

A decent start to the case. Nothing big but decent value

    Box 2

    Wade Davis rookie refractor
    Cody Wheeler prospect refractor
    Russell Wilson prospect blue /399
Jennry Mejia rookie red refractor /5
Vincent Velasquez prospect cyan printing plate 1/1
    Chevez Clarke prospect auto

Certainly pleased to hit a red refractor and of a decent rookie with good prospects. The printing plate was my first and was neat to finally see one. Overall a good box, probably came out ahead with the red.

    Box 3

    Mike McCoy rookie refractor
    Thomas Royse prospect refractor
    Lucas Harrell rookie blue /399
    Kolbrin Vitek prospect blue /399
    Corey Seager USA prospect auto
Yasmani Grandal prospect refractor auto /500

The Grandal auto was the highlight for this box. Nice to get the 2nd USA auto.

    Box 4

    Lorenzo Cain rookie refractor
    Wellington Castillo rookie blue /399
Alex Sanabia rookie blue refractor /199
    Corey Seager USA prospect refractor
Chevez Clarke prospect blue refractor auto /150

I love blue refractors (Dodger colors) so getting a blue auto was nice.

    Box 5

    Argenis Diaz rookie refractor
    Sam Demel rookie blue /399
    Cameron Rupp prospect refractor
Christian Yelich prospect refractor auto /500
Matt Carson rookie superfractor 1/1 !!

So I finally hit a super. Too bad it wasn't Manny Machado but nice nonetheless. The refractor auto was good.

    Box 6

    Wellington Castillo rookie refractor
    Michael Choice prospect blue /399
Eric Young Jr. rookie blue refractor /199
    Leon Landry prospect refractor (Dodgers!)
    Matt Olson USA prospect refractor
    Bryce Brentz prospect auto

A pretty ho-hum box in my mind. Didn't break even by a long shot.

    Box 7

Crushed the odds on this box!

    Andy Oliver rookie refractor
    Daniel Hudson rookie blue /399
    Gary Brown prospect refractor
Russell Wilson prospect red refractor /5!!
    Zach Green USA prospect auto
Mike Kvasnicka prospect orange refractor auto /25!!

Needless to say, getting a red and an orange in the same box was a thrill especially when one is an auto. Add to that the USA auto and this box delivered extreme value.

    Box 8

    Allen Craig rookie refractor
    Jason Donald rookie blue /399
Nelson Rodriguez USA prospect blue /399
    Jameson Taillon prospect refractor
    Mike Olt prospect auto

After that last box, I was due for a return to earth. Nothing special here, came out behind on this one.

    Box 9

    Josh Bell rookie refractor
    Dayan Viciedo rookie refractor
    Bryan Anderson rookie blue /399
    Niko Goodrum prospect refractor
Christian Colon prospect blue refractor /199
    Delino DeShields prospect auto

The Colon blue refractor was a nice hit since the blue borders look great with Colon in his Royals blue uniform.

My last three boxes were all outstanding. Beat the odds to a pulp on all three. Was very happy to get the Dodger auto I was pining for and in the color I wanted.

    Box 10

    Luke Hughes rookie refractor
    Seth Blair rookie blue /399
    Chad Bettis prospect refractor
    Lucas Sims USA prospect auto
Chris Okey USA prospect orange refractor
James Taillon prospect blue refractor auto /150!!

Another great box with blue and orange. The Taillon was great given that he's pretty much the 2nd most desired auto after Machado. I'll take a blue any day of the week and twice on sunday. Add a USA auto and a USA colored refractor and this box came out way ahead.

    Box 11

    Lucas Harrell rookie refractor
    Josh Donaldson rookie blue /399
Erik Kratz rookie blue refractor /199
    Zach Lee prospect refractor (Dodgers!!)
    Josh Sale prospect Aflac auto!!
Noah Syndergaard prospect red refractor auto /5!!

Another loaded box. The Josh Sale Aflac alone paid for the box. Add to that another Zach Lee and I'd be happy. But to also get a red refractor auto was insane. Syndergaard isn't at the top of the prospect auto list but if he's halfway decent I'll still come out way ahead.

    Box 12

    Mike Leake rookie refractor
    Eddie Rosario rookie blue /399
    Derek Dietrich prospect refractor
Drew Pomeranz prospect blue refractor /199
Zach Lee prospect blue refractor auto /150!!

The Pomeranz blue was nice as he's a top prospect. But the box and in some ways the case was made for me by pulling a Dodger blue Zach Lee blue refractor auto. Another box that I came out ahead on.

As of now I'm not looking to move the autos from the break unless the offer is good as I'm looking to hold. Most of the other refractors I'm open to offers on.

Nice break! I'd be interested in the Deshields and Foltynewicz autos if you see anything you need in trade in my bucket. Thanks!
