Really old, bad condition, but neat

Does it count as a new pickup if you find something in your house that you havent seen in years and totally forgot you owned? Well, i just found something, and even though i do have a small (compared to the Yankees) collection of Brooklyn Dodgers, i absolutely forgot i had this. I found it buried in pile of papers.

Its a 1951 Topps Team Card of the Brooklyn Dodgers. Its obviously in really bad shape, i remember now that it was basically falling apart when i got it in the 1980's, and that i actually glued it the construction paper, and while that may seem stupid, it would have been garbage without doing that as it really was breaking up anyway, at least this way it displays nicely.

I see that back then i even listed the players that are on the card, so now this joins my Brooklyn collection once again, and while not of monetary value, i really like having this old card as you just dont see these everyday, and even in this condition, i can get the enjoyment of ownership.

For those of you unfamiliar with the card, its approx. 2" high and 5" long, and being from 1951 it was one of the first cards ever made by Topps in their run from 1951 thru today. Being born in Brooklyn, i really like this card even in the shape its in.

That is a sweet card. i have looked for those in the past. They come up on ebay from time to time but seem to be pretty popular and get bid up. I definitely want one for my Robinson collection. Maybe someday I will find a good deal or just have to splurge. Really cool item!

They are simply called a 1951 Topps Team Card, I dont know if they have some kind of official number.

Do an Ebay search and usually you will find two or three of one of the team cards up for sale. I think they only did a few teams, i know there is no Yankee one unfortunetly for me.

Thanks for appreciating this card guys, I am happy to have it.

Awesome card! I have never seen one of these and though I am not a Dodgers fan, I would love to own one!
