06/07 had lots of the beauties in it from 05/06 (not sure why). Out of boxes I broke I nailed a Lundqvist, Vanek and Phaneuf FW/auto as well as a Crosby FW/Auto patch /100. 06/07 in my opinion is the best of the SPA thus far and therefore fairly pricey.

If I remember correctly, 05-06 SPA was supposed to come out in two waves. However, it did so poorly the first time around, that they scraped it and decided to put the rest of the hits in 06-07 to bulk up that release instead.

I heard the same IronHorse said. It was unclear (and pretty sketchy) if both Sid and AO cards were evenly inserted into those waves/year rollover. I wonder where the pricing comes from when some of those sets had neither of them inserted into the print run? It seemed more out of greed. UD knew this would be a hot product (Cup wasn't out yet) and they put as much chaff as they could around these two.
P.S. There is an Iron Horse Casino right by me, they don't make a $4 chip though lol!

The 05-06 SPA was supposed to be Wave 1 and Wave 2. UD held back the majority of the Sid and Ovie RC's for Wave 2. The idea was that everyone would go crazy and buy up Wave 1. Then when it sold out, they would ship out Wave 2. Hence being able to print twice as much product. The problem was that as soon as everyone started cracking CASES they realised that some cases didn't even yield an Ovie OR a Sid. How did people learn about this? This thing called, "The Internet". So people immediately stopped buying boxes/cases. Since that happened, dealers were stuck with a junk product and didn't order anymore.
UD couldn't send out Wave 2, because they still hadn't sold all of Wave 1. UD then just out and out lied for a year, claiming there was, "No such thing as a Wave 1 or Wave 2 of SP Authentic". Then 2006-07 SP Authentic came out. UD "magically" found all these 05-06 SP Authentic cards and put the stuff from 05-06 Wave 2 into the 06-07 SPA product as a "bonus". Since they had a monopoly on NHL Hockey cards at the time, AND 06-07 was LOADED due to the extra cards, everyone stopped complaining. Or if they did complain, people literally had no other options if they wanted RC's.
UD dropped the ball huge on that stuff. To this day, 05-06 boxes/cases aren't worth the paper they're printed on because EVERYTHING WAS NEVER IN THERE. Conversely, if you ever see a case of 2006-07 SPA snatch it up. I've bought two cases over time and they were both amazing.

Someone just pulled an Ovechkin FW Auto out of 05-06 SPA packs, so it's not impossible. Definitely not a product I would ever buy though.

there is but it's very diluted. you can still pull half the Sids and Ovys. the FW patches are also half in there. the main thing is that the 1/1's are found in 05-06 SPA. (Exquisite Endorsements and Rarified Rookies)
like i said though, it's very diluted. on average, you only get 2 autos per box. one FW RC and one SOTT. if you hit scrubs on both, your box is toast. comparably, for 06-07 SPA, you usually get 4 autos per box and 3-4 autos for 07-08 onwards.
