Dedicated to ud
Ok, so a little after Christmas I got a couple boxes of cards to open. I managed to pull a Gretzky auto/gu that had significant damage that was clearly from the factory. Since this was the first time that I've recieved a damaged card that I actually cared enough to want to have replaced I called the 800 number. There customer service guy wasn't exactly a treat (he wasn't rude but darn near close) but gave me an email addy to send pics and I guess give them my side of the story. I offered to just mail the card in since there's no denying that this card should not have been packaged. It's been just over two weeks and I haven't heard back from them yet. I can't give details yet on the Gretzky (what card and the damage) until I figure things out with ud. I'd just like to dedicate this song to ud for being.....well ud.
Collecting:Leafs Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Conacher, Horner, Broda, Bower, Clark, Gilmour and others.

hope you sent it with tracking, otherwise they will deny ever receiving it and do nothing for you.

No, right off the hop I offered to send it in since that should instantly clear things up and they just gave me an email address to send pics of the card. It's been over two weeks and I haven't heard back. Like I mentioned earlier it's my first time contacting ud for anything of this nature so I guess it's possible that they take a long time with these requests the way they do with some redemptions? Has anyone else asked for a replacement and how long did it take to hear back from them?

Did you get a case number? You should always get a case number before you send in the card.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

That is very important. Without a case number, Upper Deck will automatically return the package to sender.

i pulled a gordon beckham fw auto /10 from spa baseball but the corner wasn't the greatest. emailed UD and they said i can either mail back the card to them or have them send something to make up the lost value of the damaged card, this after i sent some pics of the card. decided to send the card and they gave me a case number and to have it stated in the package, other UD's QA department would not know. That was Feb 2010. Finally in Oct or Nov 2010 they finally sent back the replacement whcih was a Gordon Beckham Ultimate Auto RC /15 and a Reggie Wayne auto card. Yes it took 8 to 9 months for it to resolve. Keep in mind I kept bugging them asking when it was resolved, emailed them, called them, very nicely and patiently I might ask and even if they resolve and send it in Sept 2010, it will still take nearly a month for it to reach you, like what happens when you redeem something.
hopefully you had a case number the package refers to, otherwise UD may just send it back cause they really would not know what it is for or who's attention it should go to.

I've done it a few times...most recently, I asked them to replace a SPGU Crosby Marks of a Nation /50 that I wasn't sure would ever get made due to UD's then-tense relationship with the Crosby camp. Exactly 11 weeks after I made the request, I received an SPA Crosby Marks of Distinction /25 in pristine condition, which I sold to help pay for Christmas presents.
Collectors' feelings about UD are directly proportional to our dealings with them, I realize, but they've been nothing but professional with me. But then, I don't mind waiting for something like a replacement, as long as I know my request is being honored.
