NJ Devils ... What do you guys think??
So, if you guys havn't been paying attention the Devils were 27 points out of a playoff spot as late as Janruary 10th. Tonight with a win over the Stars and a Carolina regulation loss the Devils could pull within 8 points of the 8 seed. After tonights games the Devils will have 22 games left to play and the Canes will have 21 left to play.
If the Devils would make the playoffs it would have to go down as one of the greatest comebacks ever if not the best comeback ever. It has been a pretty remarkable stretch by the Devils (15-1-2 in the last 18), and have to admit that even if I weren't a Devs fan I would be pulling for them just to see them accomplish this.

It is extremely impressive. I think they could do it, but what would the real point be? They'll most likely be so burnt out come playoff time that it'll be a 1 and done. Why not get the draft pick?
I may be wrong, its just my opinion. You never know, they could pull a packers...

They could also be hot, and go in with a ton of momentum and make noise. This team does have the talent of a good team. It just suffered from very poor coaching at the begining an some injuries.
I also would like to see if they make it if Parise comes back.
As far as the pick goes I can never root for my team to get a better pick ... I always want to see my teams in the playoffs. I hope they pull it off.
Rags/Canes went to a S/o so that doesn't help :-(

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'd love to see them make it. They've been unreal lately.
Especially if Parise is able to make it back they'd be a really dangerous team to play in the playoffs.

It will be a great comeback for sure. A rookie coach and injuries plagued their season's start. It is amazing what a good coach can do for a team. Rolston who was waived twice has been one of their horses.
I think if they make it to the playoffs, they will be one scary team to play against. They will have the confidence of a winner, a system proven to win championships, and the experience needed to make a serious run.
9 points out, 22 games left.
The question that is more immediate, do you trade Jason Arnott or keep him for the run?

Hedberg looked pretty impressive to me. As did the defense as a whole.

I think they keep Arnott. If for no other reason then if the trade him I think it sends a message to the locker room that they are sellers and don't have faith in the team.
And I think this team will absolutely be dangerous in the post seaason. If they make the playoffs they could easily head in as the hottest team in the league.

i haven't watched much of devils, but Kovalchuk has been catching stride. hey, the Flyers were an 8 seed last year, and they made the finals. never count a team out.

Nine Points out of a Playoff spot. This translates into, They have to win........
16 of the next 20 games to do things on their own merit. This will get them into the playoff considering the way other teams are playing.
It's a tall task.
Now should the 5-6 teams that oppose the Devs go into the tank, then their task becomes much easier. But based on today and based on the win rate of who they are challenging, they must win 16 of the next 20.
I don't think they are going to get there, but they are going to scare the Beejeezus out of some Eastern Teams that are close.
