Yeah, it may be cool to pull one, but this is a hockey set, not an "Extinct Animals" set.

Actually it was marketed as much for the extinct animals as it was for the hockey lol.

I always liked them, I was always a dinosaur nerd genius, I loved going to the Royal Tyrell Museum, I still go on occasion, but I loved the fossil cards.

That Mammoth femur is a 1:All The Cases.

it's the most rare card in the set and virtually Pricele$$

I believe your thinking of the Trex tooth....The femur card was pretty common among case hits.....they settled around 100 or so on ebay......the trex tooth on the other hand...that is PRICELESS

has the Trex tooth been pulled yet??? i like the idea...but i don't think they should do it in a hockey brand to be honest...i love some of the non-sport memorabilia cards though...like pulling a cut auto of a famous president or a piece of a skirt worn my Marilyn Monroe...i usually don't but boxes of those brands but i do love the thought
Please check my inventory before my photobucket!!! It's more up to date!!!

I think the crossover between two things (i.e. Hockey and celebrities) is going too far.

I dunno, if they were to dredge up an Obi-Wan Kenobi game-used Jedi robe, I could ask, "Where did you dig up that old fossil?" and laugh for days.

Hollywood has hi-jacked the ESPY Awards, and is trying to do the same at the NHL Awards.

    They need to get lost.

I'm sure there's a Chris Chelios joke there somewhere.

When I pulled my "Neolithic Stone Tools" redemption out of my box of 08-09 Champs, the furthest thing from my mind was, "This doesnt belong in my hockey Set!" Good pulls are good puls no matter what! Plus with 2 AU and 2 JSY's per box, was a pretty good haul for the money. BTW, I sold that Redemption for $250, much better than anything else I pulled that year!

I agree that the celeb autos are awful, and so are the virtually anonymous figure skating "stars" that were inserted in various hockey products. I don't know figure skating, don't care.

However, I don't know much about trilobytes and dinosaurs, apart from the standard elemetary school stuff, but the age and scope of that stuff is far more compelling than most anything you could put in a card, to me. I've seen some AWESOME concepts for cuts that I would love to see in hockey products too (the old hockey cuts...blah) Orville and Wilbur Wright dual cut, the Beatles quad cut, cards of those caliber in hockey products...fine! awesome!

Just as I love cards and autos to connect myself to the game, I really enjoy buying a hockey card product with a chance of connecting myself to something much more meaningful.

The only caveat are the sometimes cheapo fill-in concepts, like sand from teh beach of Normandy. I could call someone in Normandy to send me some for a few bucks, np. But a musket ball fired at Gettysburg would be a sweet pull next to a rookie of Skinner, and a dual jersey.

The same old patch autos are boring me. I'd like a few more surprises. Bravo to UD for getting those fossils, and the stuff from Goodwins baseball off the ground. Same to Topps for putting all those weird oddball autos in Allen and Ginter.
