Komisarek hit on Carcillo...

Did anyone else think this hit was weak? After watching the hilites it just seems like Carcillo was trying to make it seem worse than it actually was, probably because he knows there will be a penalty called. Especially with Chara's hit it wouldn't take much to get a major called on someone (there were two last night alone... when was the last time there were 2 non fighting majors in one night?). Considering what kind of player Carcillo is would it really be a stretch for this to be the case?

Before anyone comments about me being a Leafs fan. I don't even like Komisarek and if anything I like Carcillo more than him and I still think it was a weak hit that cost TO a goal and a loss eventually.

It was a cheap and dirty play. When a guy is going into the boards with his back to you, what is the point and purpose of giving him a cross-check like that? None. Where is the hockey value there? There isn't any. It comes down to having no respect for your opponent to do something like that.

I'm not a fan of Carcillo, but I doubt that he "sold" the check. He was in an awkward position such that he went head-and-knee-first into the boards - I have a tough time envisioning a train of thought in which a player thinks, "Oh there's a tap on my back, time to jump" so that he could potentially destroy his knee and concuss himself. I'm glad that he got up from it - I don't know if he returned to the game or not - because nobody deserves to get hurt playing the game.

I'm not saying it wasn't cheap and dirty. Komisarek should not have done it. I just think it was a weak hit that Carcillo took advantage of to get a PP and it obviously worked really well. That is Carcillo's job, to instigate people into getting penalties so that his team has a PP. He was no going nearly fast enough to hurt himself and I am pretty sure he only went to the locker room because he had to due to the fact he was writhing around on the ice like he broke himself in half (kinda like Kovalev in the top 10 on SC today) and if he didn't go to the locker room it would make him look ridiculous. As far as I know Carcillo was back after a couple minutes and up to his usual self.

As soon as Komi tapped him he went down like a sack of bricks. I have been in Carcillo's position before going towards the boards like that and people ALWAYS hit you in some way even though they shouldn't. I didn't fall down when people hit me in the back. I have even been in Komi's position before. One time all I did was put my hands on the players back to push him into the boards (not hit so he falls, that is dangerous, but guide him into the boards to get him off the puck and not hurt him) and the guy went down and I got thrown out of a game. I wasn't trying to hurt the guy and I am not a dirty player. I just wanted to be physical cuz that's what hockey is and it turned out bad for me.

I don't agree that it has anything to do with respect for the opponent. It doesn't matter who a person is you are going to try and be physical. What Komisarek did, while dirty, is not out of ordinary. A cross check to the back like that happens a lot during the course of a game. Anyone who has ever stood in front of a net can attest to that.

I was at the game. The hit didn't look that bad in person and about everyone there lost their minds when the major was given out. That one penalty killed the game, it was early in the first period and after that it felt like the players were afraid to make contact.

After watching the replay on TSN a few times when I got home my feeling on the matter was confirmed when I saw the ever so light cross check (yes from behind) followed by an embellishment that would make a soccer player proud. He dove like it was going out of style, even worked it for a bit on the ice, then within a few min was on the pp. Complete garbage. Remove that pp goal from the game and we are taking a point or possibly two for the leafs.

I wish they would give suspensions to players after the fact for diving...

LOL, after lieing on the ice for 5 minutes he was back out for his next shift yapping off and running around again. Mike Brown wanted to scrap him but he ran away. it was a stupid play by komisarek but I have ZERO respect for guys like Carcillo.

As a Flyers fan even I know Carcillo embellishes every single time he is hit. He plays to antagonize the opponent and only step up when the situation is in his favour. He's a cheap player.
