he didn't say valuable though...he said COLLECTABLE...and i have to agree with him...there will be at least one Roy 1/1 every hockey season for sale with all the brands putting out shields and what not...the last time a card like this surfaced was over a decade ago (according to this post anyway)...id rather have that card than a shield from a collector standpoint

There are 500 copies. A bit of research and you'll find another one. Ask the older reputable dealers. It is a nice collectible, but don't begin to compare with rarity of the nicest Roy cards with a print run of 1. The card with a print run of 1, you'll never fin it again, here we have 500 copies. That's the point I am making from what you are stating.

Don't even listen to Roy.The.Greatest he thinks he is the know all of all. Everyone is right, that is a nasty pull, should fetch you a pretty penny. I have personally never seen one and believe that would be a highly sought after card for a true Roy collector.

So, you do not agree that 500 copies of this Pro-Set card exist? Right?

Main problem is most collectors of the early 1990's are not active these days, so accurate information is difficult to find. For its estimated value as today of March 2011, it is difficult to guess a price due to demand for Pro-Set cards that is not comparable to what it was 15 years ago. I don't remember, but is the back of the card different of the regular CC2?

you are correct for sure with collectors from years ago being dormant these days, i am not as concerned with a value as i am info .i wonder how many of the cc2 cards were autographed and were the cc2 cards the only ones to be signed in gold ink??on the other hand i dont think the value of this card is dependant on the demand for pro set cards. As i mentioned before and every collector knows pro set base cards are not worth the stock they are printed on, this was the card that started mask cards in later years not to mention one of the first autographs ever to be inserted in packages even if it is pro set. after saying i dont care about the value of the card i defend the value. i guess it has more of a sentimental value for me .

I agree, not doubt it is a cool card. My comment about the 2 other comments was because they compare your card to cards that worth thousands. As written in catalog of 1999, Patrick Roy signed 500 copies. Do you have a scan of the back of your card? Is the back of the card identical to the regular CC2 version?

I don't have a scan of another one. Well know information about the Pro-Set cards of that year are:

French wax boxes contained randomly inserted Patrick Roy personally autographed cards signed and numbered on the back; 1000 of card number 125 (first series) and 1000 of card number 599 numbered 1001 to 2000 (second series). Roy also signed 500 cards for distribution in Canadian collector's kits. Randomly inserted in US packs were limited quantity of Kirk McLean autographed cards.

    - catalog of 1999, page 214 about the 1991-92 Pro-Set cards.

If the back is identical to the regular CC2, so what would be the difference someone take a regular CC2 card and make it signed by Patrick Roy with a gold pen like your card? I hope there is a difference on the back of the card, otherwise it is a problematic situation made by Pro-Set. On the next cards shows I will try to collect information for sure about the Canadian collector's kits.

were the 500 cards autographed the cc2 for "the collector box" ? i'm not so sure and my card is not numbered like the others i've seen of the base card and card 599 . This is the reason i started this thread . You certainly could go get a cc2 card autographed in a gold pen and say"hey look i have the same card" you could even go as far as numbering it yourself if you wanted. This card was pulled by me when i was 11 years old and put away ever since . i will never sell it so it does not really matter to me if it can be duplicated , even the numbered ones could be duplicated since the number was marked on the back with the same ink the card was autographed in and again the value of the card is less important that the info ,and i do thank you for your information i believe i do recall the kirk Mclean cards as well im just not 100% on the cards autographed for the collector starter set being the cc2 . as well as the fact that this was pulled from a box and not "the collector" although i did mention having that starter kit as well
