Kings hopes of a Cup run this season might be over
http://lakingsinsider.com/2011/03/26...e-for-kopitar/
We'll see, but 6 weeks MINIMUM for a return doesn't look promising.
I can see LA getting in the playoffs and maybe getting to round 2 but without Kopitar it would take Jonathan Quick doing a Patrick Roy like 1993 Cup run performance to get the whole enchilada.

ouch. that's definitely going to hurt. i'm sure LA would've rather taken the loss than have Kopitar go down for that long.

it still might be a bit hard to stay in the playoffs though too. They go to Vancouver, go to San Jose, still have to deal with Dallas once and last 2 games against the Ducks

It will be very tough for them, didn't they just lose justin williams also? Thats a lot of their scoring.

Heh.
Very tough news for the Kings. How's the little guy taking the news, B?
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

Austin is actually taking it good. Really cute was his initial reaction:
He said "Who's my favorite player going to be now?"
I told him Kopi would be back next year and he said "Oh, ok, Jonathan (Quick) and Kyle (Clifford) will be my favorites the rest of the year."
As far as the Kings getting in the playoffs, I really have no worries they'll get in. They are a DEEP team and still pretty talented.
My personal prediction is they can make it to the 2nd round and then bow out.But if Jonathan Quick could put together a Patrick Roy-like 1993 playoff run, anything is possible, even the Cup.
Remember, the areas where injuries have NOT hit them are goaltending and defense, and those are the two areas they have depth. We all know that those two areas are what you need to be your strengths for playoff style hockey.
Anything is possible.
