    Safeguarding auctions as a Seller

What terms and conditions do you all set for auctions on ebay?

I want my liability in the shipping (apart from proof of sending) to be 0, because I'm not willing to eat it on a big sell. I figure, they pick the shipping method, they pick the level of shipping risk they want to take.

Is that an enforcable term I can list in my auction? Does ebay support/ enforce seller terms?

Any other ideas on terms to safeguard auctions?

98% of the time eBay sides with the buyer, unless you have rock-solid proof it was shipped and received.

Your best hope is to send tracked with signature confirmation. There is no definitive way to protect yourself, some buyers even have the nerve to file PayPal claims even though the tracking number says it was delivered.

I would be 1 of those.

Received an empty bubble envelope that was shipped with a tracking number.
Lost the claim at first but about a month later I got some paypal back with a promise of more if the guys account ever received any.

No explanation but am assuming the guy who only had 5 feedback was banned or had numerous complaints in that month

Has the ebay process become so convoluted and manipulated that selling on ebay is a total gamble then?

Read the fine print. Tips I have picked up over 1000's of auctions:
    1) Set a return policy - give strict details on the condition you will take items back, the time frame and if its credit or cash, including not covering the charge for shipping.
    2) When you ship an item you can't afford to lose (for me it was $100) like the people above have said get a signature. Not only that but make sure that the address you ship to is the same as the verified one on their paypal account. Keep documentation of everything.
    3) Never ever ever send any redemption codes via email. You need to send a tangible good.
    4) Put a note in your auction that if they have any issues with the service or product to please contact you first and that you will work something out. Pretty much the only time I got negative feedback was due to someone not contacting me first.
    5) Hate to say it but assume that people are out to get you and that you have absolutely no backing from ebay or paypal. They really could care less about sellers, I used to pay a few grand in fees a month almost a gold power seller (before they got rid of them) and they would do pretty much nothing to help me when I ran into a scammer even with 1000's of seamless sales under my belt.
    6) Have two separate accounts for buying and selling. If you ever have a problem buying you don't want to worry about leaving appropriate feedback because they can retaliate.
    7) Join a ebay sellers forum, pretty much every scam has been tried. Its a great place to learn what to do and what not to do.
    8) Good luck!

Well, as a seller, the only way to guarantee you don't get screwed is to insure the shipping and get a signature to confirm the shipment. That way, if the card is claimed to be lost, stolen, or damaged before it gets to the buyer, you have insurance on it. If it is signed for and confirmed by the buyer, then you should be ok if the buyer ever files a claim.

Ebay really has no choice but to side with the buyer unless there is evidence to the contrary, so take all of the appropriate steps to make sure you are protected, especially for cards that are of the high-end variety.
