Isn't the card in the PSA casing a 1997 SPX Die-cut Gold Version , instead?

You are correct. The card in the PSA case is just a gold parallel. As for the price...........

those spx cards are hard to find without chipping and with 2 only graded that high i can see this price...the chipping on that set is almost as bad as the chipping in the 9798 fleer ultra set so price doesnt suprise me...im also a huge jordan collector and personally would of paid 500 for the card but no more

WOW, I remember that set was like $10 a pack and you only got 1 card...
I pulled LJ, then MJ.

yeah this has to be just about the grade. i have some SPx Jordans from 96 and 97 and they were pulled from packs and put directly into protectors. STILL have some white around the edges on the back.

2 of the greatest base sets ever, IMO - if not the absolute greatest.
