Grading cards is a joke.

Look at this card that just sold for almost 100k. This is why I dont mess with graded cards. This will continue to happen and the bottom is going to fall out of the market. none of the big graders can be trusted anymore and this is just another example. Does anyone think this is worthy of a PSA 10?

No,but is no worse than a PSA/JSA/BCCG authenticator telling you the auto is fake,when you were the person who got it signed...in-person :)

It's all a scam,period.
I saw the Bryce Harper USA red auto from the team set last year on ebay,PSA 10.....with a dinged corner and the centering at 30/70 and a smudge on the bottom of the H in the autos...

All a sham and all the lemmings eat it up and drive another end of the hobby that takes the wind out of collecting
HOWEVER, if you are about flipping,graded is your friend.
Friend did the Atlanta show sponsored by leaf and ASC and saw a shady deal go down iwth the Beckett guy and a customer with 250 cards to be raw graded. Needless to say the guy had to have a killer eye as all 250 were raw 9.5 the next day:P

Drop a few google searches. Grading employees have blown the whistle here and there. 100.00 in Texas will make a 9.5 a 10

You fail to notice OPC cards back then were cut with wire rather than shears/blades like the current way. Because of this graded card companys give a tad bit of leeway on the edges, hence the right side of this card.

You make the point,exceptions are made and each grader can elect what exceptions to allow.
This is why so many people look for 9.5's with 2-4 9.5 subs and preferably a 9.5 with 2 10 subs,to regraded based on the simple fact,each grader has his own criteria and "exceptions" :)

Like that red auto bryce harper I saw on ebay last year, gem 10, 70/30 centering and 2 soft corners. I guess since he was a Harper fan or the a fan of the submitter,he made some exceptions :)...then again,he could have been a Ben Franklin fan.

While I understand your point and why you made it, you are allotting allowances on 1 card. granted the OP did not understand the reasons,but did touch on a wide issue of dishonesty and a lack of ethical practice at Beckett and PSA

But a 10 because the Canadians didn't use modern tactics,yet Americans did from 1883 and up...that's moronic :) That's giving a company and collector's a crutch because some company was lazy and cheap

Well you see that is still not a 10. Qualified 10 like they do for comic books but there probably isn't a pristine OPC Gretzky rookie. I have never seen one without a rough edge but that doesn't mean you can upgrade it to gem mint. Doesn't work that way.

Thats PSA for you. It's the biggest joke in the card grading history. PSA has a bunch of 7 year olds grading the cards dont you know? PSA is a scam. Grade your cards with BGS/BVG

Grad with a company that favors people who work deals on 300-500 cards at a time. Pass...anyone who can be bought and "Adjust" grades to keep the big guys coming....no thanks.

That's absurd. Explain to me why I just got my first order back ever and I got all 9.5's. People just need to find what ever excuse they can when their cards dont grade as good as they want them to. Beckett is the leader in grading cards, period.
