Grading Cards
I just signed up for Beckett and am getting 2 free grads with it and was wondering if I should get a friends Gretzky Rookie card done? I have not seen the card yet but she told me it is in a safe in the bank and has been there since his the 80's and will get it out if it is worth grading but i don't know? What kind of cards should you get graded?

Apart from the Gretzky RC, I would go with the most valuable card in your collection. Just FYI, it's better to get that Gretzky graded these days regardless of the outcome. Not many people will pay for an ungraded Gretzky RC because of the number of fake reprints available.

Other than the Gretzky, my recommendation for a card to be graded is a high value Young Guns rookie(Stamkos, Ovechkin, etc.), an Ice Rookie (#/99) or a high-value Future Watch AU/RC. Getting a 9.5 grade on any of them can cause a substantial premium in your favour for value.
That or a Pro Set base card

I wouldn't get any card graded. The service is seriously FLAWED and INCONSISTENT.
I used to be a staunch supporter, but I have had several high-end cards get damaged by them, and they just wash their hands of it. Their grading system is IMPERFECT and INCONSISTENT.
If you are going to get anything graded, get cards graded that you will sell or don't care for and want to move. They would need to at least score a 9.5 or you just wasted more money on shipping back and forth.
If you are going to keep the card, just keep it in a nice magnetic holder and save yourself the money and stress.

If you take your top cards to your LCS, a lot of owners will help you inspect your card and see if it's worth grading. Kovy is right in saying that it has to be at least 9.5 for a value boost. So ask around for a bit of grading help and I'm sure they'd be happy to help you.
