Phillies ALS Carnival
I think this is usually in May, but does anyone have any information on this? Anyone ever done it before?
From what I hear it is kind of a waste of time- there is an entrance fee then an exorbitant fee to get any autograph of any player you would actually want (from what I have read). It's almost like a professional show.
I'd like to hear it from people who have done it though.
Here is the link from last year's event

It is like a professional event, and it's really dumb luck with who you wind up getting unless you get there very early. I cost about 30-40 bucks to get in get 2 autograph tickets. You get two autos for each ticket. One is already a predetermined table number, and the other is a trade in ticket that you can trade in for a table that you want. The problem is, you can't start trading until four o'clock, and you don't know who is at what table until you get there. My buddy and I have made a habit out of getting there around twelve, bringing a beer cooler, and hanging out in line. We Usually get two admittance tickets a piece, so we can get 8 autos total. People trade their tickets too, so you can usually get at least one guy you want. Last year, I walked away with Victorino, Durbin, Rollins, Howard, Kendrick, Francisco, and Ibanez. Howard was one of my predetermined tickets, and he was signing with Rich Dubee. Kendrick and Fransicso were together, and were my other predetermined tickets. There is also a photo both that cost like 25 bucks. Those guys take pics with you, but don't sign at all. I'm pretty sure it was Manuel, Halladay and Hamels last year.
Sometimes when the lines are empty, you can pay 5 bucks to get autos too. I got Moyer, Blanton, Gary Matthews and Larry Andersen like this in 09, and Randy Wolf like this years ago. If you are willing to spend the time and money, you make out pretty good.Last edited by druce26; 01-25-2011 at 01:29 PM.

Initially the prices shocked me. However, the money does go to a very good cause so shelling out that kind of money is pretty cool for the fight against ALS. Plus, if you can figure it out the way Druce did...you are golden!
Did I read that right? One admission ticket will get you four autographs, one or two of which are already predetermined and the others to your choice or trade? That's not too shabby for 40 bucks (to a great cause) for 4 gauranteed 'graphs.Last edited by JVazz29; 01-26-2011 at 08:22 PM.

Yes, one admission ticket gets you two auto tickets. Each auto ticket is for a table that has two guys at it. One ticket is for a predetermined table, and the other ticket can be traded in. If you get there early enough, you can pretty much get who you want with the trade in ticket. I traded in for Rollins, then got back in line and traded in for Victorino last year.

The Phillies changed their policy this season regarding the trading of tixs. The Phillies no longer give out trading tixs anymore and give out TWO pre-selected tables tixs for the event.
They changed the policy because too many people were complaining about the dealers and people who were getting multiples of the big name players. Now everyone has an equal shot of landing the big names.

Can you still trade your preselected tables? I'm not sure what this all means it's very confusing.

With other people? Yes, of course. You just no longer have the
option to trade with the Phillies for other tables.
