Group Break. How do I participate?
Hi Everyone:
I've never participated in a group break before and would like to.
I see them listed on Ebay and know that some online stores sell spots.
How does it work here? Are there any instructions available anywhere?
Where is the best place to get involved in a group break where the person holding the break isn't making money off of you? Are there any breaks where people split the actual cost evenly, so that no one is making profit from you?
I want to start participating in group breaks, but I'm afraid of getting taking advantage of and want to get the best prices possible.
Any help people can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Jim

Jim,
I would look at the groupbreak forum as each one has rules and how they are done:
https://www.sportscardforum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=523
You say you don't want the person to make money off you but they should be compensated for their time. So just look around and find a break that you think offers a good price and give it a try. Any more questions just ask,.

I have participated in numerous breaks here on SCF. All have been fantastic. Usually they are card drafts (not team drafts - not a big fan of team drafts), and 1) fairly priced, 2) time consuming, so keeps you interested, exciting!!! 3) trustworthy. Rainman, Doniceage, and someone else too...all done breaks. I wouldn't hestitate to get involved here. Just keep your eyes peeled for new break threads. I think there are 2 going on right now, but nothing open. As a participant, feel free to ask me as well!

Go www.blogtv.com. Look at the top under channels and then find Sports. There are usually a couple of breaks every night for every sport.

Not that I seen. I never seen anyone period do older vintage. Also, what time period do you consider vintage pre 80's etc.?

I would say there's a split around 1989 before they became produced by more than 2 sellers and then another split around the early 70s because cards from the early 70s are noticeably more expensive.
I guess to do a proper vintage pack break so that it's not too high of a price and multiple packs can be opened...it would have to be packs from the early 80s unless someone finds a bargain on some late 70s packs.
