Yeah I wasn't psyched to see that it's $120+taxes myself. I know there's this extra hype around hitting one player's rookie & parallels, but it's a little crazy. Wasn't last year's product only like $90?

Myself, I've been paying around 90Cad taxes in and delivered for OPC Hobby in the last couple of years. Now, ZephyrEpic is sold out, and most online shops are asking around 120Cad + tax + shipping. There's no way I'll pay 150 for a box of OPC.

I was just about to post that ZE sold out of hobby boxes. Damn that was quick. So much for the price increases scaring off buyers.

So we've basically gone from $5/pack to $6.67/pack (plus taxes) and there's nothing really "value added" to achieve/justify that 33% increase other than "well, this year has Connor Bedard and a new /49 parallel that nobody was asking for."

Be what it may!! With the Bedard issue in play you can bet that all product will see a dramatic increase in price.

Are you in the hobby for $$$ or the pleasure to collect. Whatever floats your boat I guess.

The latter. That's why it's a little infuriating to see such drastic price increases, because of the influx of new people strictly here for the former.

Don't get me wrong, happy for the people who hit a Bedard Black Rainbow Retro /100 and flip it for $800+ on opening day. That's definitely something you wouldn't see last year.

It's just that usually we have to wait until the "second wave" from the distributors to see everything get jacked up like this.

At well over $100 a box for what's supposed to be a lower end product, collectors won't be satisfied whichever of those reasons they're in it for. Especially if in a couple of years, Bedard winds up being less like the next Connor McDavid and more like the next Alexandre Daigle.
