2010 Theme Week #1 VOTING- Your Favorite Card
Let's get this underway!
Rules for voting:
-Voting will take place from now (5/10) and will last until 11:59 PM EST on Sunday (5/16).
-Each member is allowed to post a link to this voting thread in their signature and post a short message such as "Vote for gmoney168!" All other forms of attempting to gain votes will be considered cheating, and will result in disqualification of all 2010 Baseball Theme Weeks in addition to other possible penalties. The member will be able to vote for themself as well.
-Discussion is allowed in the voting thread, but members may not attempt to persuade voters towards a particular card. (Example: Say "I voted for gmoney168 because I thought his card best fit what we were looking for this week" instead of "Vote for gmoney168 because his card deserves to win since it looks the coolest.")
- The voting criteria for this week is based on the member's personal story of why they like the card so much.

Here is my card. This is an early 1920's Babe Ruth strip card. The card measures approx. 2-1/2" tall by 1-1/2" wide. It originally came on a strip of a few cards, usually about 5, and it was up to the person who got the strip to cut the cards apart, and this made for most cards winding up being in lessor condition.
What makes this card so great is that not only is it one of the very first cards to show Babe Ruth as a Yankee, but it lists his position as pitcher and has him in a pitchers pose. Note too how the team says YANKS rather than YANKEES. The red background adds color to this great card. This card is one of my absolute favorites of alltime, not a card you see everyday. Very hard to find a Yankees card of Babe Ruth showing him as a pitcher. These old strip cards are so neat, its great to have any original strip card, they have such a neat look to them, different from any other card.

This sketch card is my favorite non auto/etc for many reasons. As some of you know already I feel like I may have had a small part in the sketches idea. My love for art and baseball are combined in these 1/1 inserts. Jackie was a unforgettable player for many reasons and Holbrecht is probably the best artist commissioned by Topps. So, what card could be better for a guy like me? Value aside I own a piece that touches my soul on several levels.

The only rookie I've ever pulled of Jeter and I did it before he was even known. Not in the best shape but I've had it for years and will never let it go.

Gotta go with my Josh Hancock #"d 2/6 card here. One of my major collecting points given his unfortunate passing three years ago.

I have plenty of decent baseball cards that are worth far more than this card could ever be worth, but those don't count as favorites. This isn't anything special, but it was my very first Joe Nathan card - 2005 Donruss base card - bought it for $1 + tax at a now closed card shop...but, it was a very nice pickup for me, and will be one card that I never get rid of.
A mini background on why I collect Joe Nathan - his last name and my first are the same, and he is a player on the local MLB team, so it was pretty much a given that I had to collect him.

My entry this week is the Jeter/Bush/Mantle. 07 Topps is the very first brand of baseball I ever brought. The "error" card was kinda popular when it was came out. And nothing beats it by actually pulling the card out from the pack. And to top it off, Jeter is one of the players that I collect.
