Is your "certified auto" real or fake?
I'm not sure if any of you have seen this video? Its a old one but is still very relevant! I have seen so many autos that would be considered real because they are certified! I personally think these company's are garbage! But I will let you be the judge! I posted this on another site im on way back but thought I would show it here! Here is the post from there. Its not wrote 100% great but it will open your eyes!!
""wow they are just getting worse and worse out there. the big one right now is the rookie premiere or photo shoot rookie auto. people are fakeing the red ones, the are wiping off the blue and re-signing them in red ink as the red inks are way more rarer of these hot idem cards. topps needs to step in big time on this. the need to ether # these cards, or put a stamp over the autos like playoff did, or put on the front of the cards where it says red ink or blue or whatever something like that. they could also put on there site a hologram checker, where you could go on there enter the #s on the holo and it would tell you if its a red ink auto or not and it would tell you what card it is, because some sellers are taking the holos off of no name players that are single cards and puting them on the dual or quad auto to say they are real. they need to first off use those stickers that if you try to remove them they mess up.
next. the fake sticker autos, where seller take the sticker off a cheap cards and put it on another card and resign it for that player. same goes here, they need to use those stickers that if you try to remove them they mess up.
also there are the cards like exquisite, that have the big jersey's and then the big jersey autos. these cards look the same and some times you cant tell if its the auto version or the regular. the need to put on the card if its the auto version. and other cards like this.
last. we have the people that the sign, footballs, jerseys, baseballs, bats, 8x10, pucks, etc. this is a hard one, because a lot of people do get ip= in-person autos. the FBI is involved big in this one, they have been busting up huge fake auto rings=(a bunch of people working together) for years now. but we need to also be smarter about this one. if someone is selling a Babe Ruth auto ball for $100 bucks and its not someone that is just dumbfounded when it comes to how rare something is, ITS A FAKE!!!!!!! also look at what else a seller has, if you spot a fake, then chances are he has more fakes. remember you don't get rich selling 1 fake auto, you make money selling tons of fakes!!! do some research on what you buying, most of the time if its selling for really low and its a highend auto people know its a fake and that why theres not many bids on it, this is a biggggggggg red flag smacking you in the face. also if a seller has 50 jordan autos for sale there's a 99% chance they are fake, who has 50 jordan autos unless its upperdeck lol. so spend 5-10 mins look up some real autos of what you buying and compare them, this doesn't always work as some people are really good at faking autos, but it will cut your chances of buying a fake auto by at least half.
1 last thing and this is explaind more below in the original post. just because it has be certified or comes with a COA doesn't mean its real!!!!! also watch the video on this.
and i wanted to note about fake patches also this is also a biggggg problem. seller taking out a plain patch and putting in a nice patch, be careful when buying patch cards. look for raising or chipping around the patch this is usually a good indication of a fake. also be aware of cards that were not jersey cards, that have been made into jersey/patch cards. the person takes a plain card cuts a spot out and puts in a jersey or patch piece. watch out for these, they are not as common as switching patches but i have seen some. they are not rare version like the seller says they are
the rest of this is from the original post for fake autos.
Fake autographs we have all seen them. I have seen so many bad autos on ebay it makes me sick. Ive seen fakes go for more than real ones ive bought on there. These homemade COA's are a joke. Because if its a fake its a fake. Just because you put a COA with it does not make it real, it just makes it a fake with a COA. And these people say "money back guarantee" for life so if i bring you this card or what ever it is 10 years from now, after i spend 20,30,100, bucks to get it checked out and they say its a fake. Then i spend tons of money to find the person that sold it to me, your going to give me my money back right?? Why would you go though all that for something you payed 5-6 bucks for. So keep your COA's your just wasting paper and trees because it means nothing to me. So they will have your money and the next person and the next, you get the point.
And as for "certified" autos, well lets just not name companies that do a real bad job with certifying there customers autos. Just paste this link and no more needs to be said about this part.

And some of these autos i see might be real, they are very good if they are fake. But some of them are really bad. They are all smudged and sloppy no clean flow. Now ether the auto is fake or the player was really drunk when they signed it lol. Some of them don't look anything close to the players auto at all. Most of the people that buy them leave good feedback because they don't know the difference and its sad. So if you want a real auto ether have the player sign it in real life or spend a little time and do you homework on that players auto. All this is just my opinion just trying to help people out, so they can have there favorite players auto and know its real.""

It's so simple to make fakes- that's the problem.

In a way that is true! But if people just did a little homework on what they are buying and knew what to look for and knew there was so many fakes out there, 9 out of 10 fakes could be avoided!
I see people selling fakes all the time and a lot of them have no clue they are fake!!!
So its not always that they are trying to scam you. Its just some people put to much trust in something and just believe that its real and all is good! Most people in the hobby know about some fakes but not all, and people new to the hobby almost have no clue about most fakes! They ruin a great hobby! Its truly sad when you go to buy something and it always crosses your mind "is this fake or real"?!!!

It's really sad.
Type "Brett Favre" into eBay and look at the autograph section. There's usually 700+ items in there on a regular basis. Favre doesn't sign anything for anyone but a company or huge chairty, so that alone goes against the hundreds claiming to be real. Then you have the Chinese knockoff jerseys with an "autograph" on it going for $300+, or the 8x10's signed by Peterson and Favre going for $250.. There's just no way.
