Scrap it - it's cool and all, but I just don't have much interest.

KEEP IT! I love the magazine and eagerly look forward to it every 2 months! Just make it smaller.

SCF magazine: scrap it, or just reduce the contents?
The SCF magazine was brought back in May as a bi-monthly production. We've seen a great increase in articles since then, but not a lot of comments indicating that people are as interested in the magazine as its production time demands. Given this state, we are considering either scrapping the magazine and letting the articles stand alone on the Articles page, or greatly reducing the contents of each issue so that only a small selection of articles make the cut.
So, please vote on which approach you'd like to see the most. Thanks.Last edited by WilyWestbrook0; 09-29-2010 at 05:02 PM.

Wow...the first 9 votes were 7-2, but now it's 9-8 after 17 votes! Keep the votes coming...the poll lasts a month. Additionally, magazine production for the November issue doesn't start until October 1. If the vote is still very close (or in clearer favor of the magazine) by October 1, I will start sorting all the articles for publication organization as I've done on the first of the month in times past.

That fact that only 18 people have given an opinion pretty much speaks for itself.

It's been less than 48 hours since the poll was created, so I didn't expect the number to be that high at this point; 18 actually isn't that bad given the time frame.

How does registered hits on the magazine compare to the video features posted on the SCF YouTube site?

I haven't been to the YouTube site, but from thread views, the most recent issues got the following numbers (user comment count doesn't include publishers or multiple posts by same user):
May comeback issue - 530 views; 5 users commented
July issue - 391 views; 4 user commented
September issue - 297 views; 4 user commented
For reference, the first installment of the magazine before I joined production got the following numbers each month (not counting the very first issue, whose thread link I can't find in the Announcements forum):
Issue #2 (December 2008): 476 views; 8 users commented
Issue #3 (January 2009): 1,642 views; 13 users commented
Issue #4 (February 2009): 1,987 views; 16 users commented
Issue #5 (March 2009): 358 views; 11 users commented
Issue #6 (April 2009): 313 views; 5 users commented
Issue #7 (May 2009): 266 views; 1 user commented
Issue #8 (June 2009): 406 views; 4 users commented
Issue #9: (July 2009): 436 views; 12 users commented
Issue #10 (August 2009): 417 views; 2 users commented
Issue #11 (September 2009): 935 views; 6 users commented
Issue #12 (October 2009): 640 views; 4 users commented
Issue #13 (November 2009): 765 views; 0 users commented
Issue #14 (December 2009): 1,214 views; 4 users commented

doniceage keeps track of the YouTube stats. Hopefully, he can give us some info on how they compare. I'm just curious.

If you want specific stats let me know. As there a lot of things one could look at. Personally, I do not think comments is the big factor but the views.

I was just kind of thinking out loud, about a comparison of hits between the magazine and the YouTube videos. I know it's kind of comparing apples and oranges, but I'm just curious abou the amont viewership there is among all of our media assets.
