First Box of My Life - 09/10 SPA

I've posted a couple of times on the Hockey Talk forum just introducing myself and learning as much as I can. I'm 38 years old and just starting to collect cards with my 8 and 6 year old sons. I've got a case of 10/11 UD1 on order but I went ahead a got a box of SPA 09/10 just to have something to start with.

Here's what I got - honestly, not sure what's worth anything here and what's not - tried to do some searching on EBay. Either way, it was fun and a definite learning experience! Not sure exactly how to list these so bear with me!

The best card I got is a Rookie Review with a beautiful 4 color patch of Pascal LeClaire as a CBJ #002/100 with Auto. It is my very first patch card and although LeClaire is no longer with the Jackets, I really like him, I've met him a couple of times, and my boys love him and have met him.

Based on what I've seen, this was probably an average box but I have no idea. What are your thoughts?

I don't know what I'm going to do with the cards. If anyone is interested in trading for some Jackets cards let me know. It may be awhile before I get scans up as I'm really just getting started. Everything beyond base went straight into a toploader and the patch into a one-touch. Glad I beefed up on some supplies!

So overall, I'm happy and had fun and I can't wait to show my boys!

Im glad your having a great time collecting with your sons! Pretty decent box. if you got a player you really enjoy then that was a great box. Congrats and welcome to the hobby!

hitting patches are a few per case (I can't remember how many)

So you did well on the patch, no doubt about that. Rookie autos arent the greatest, but for someone like me who is collecting the whole entire set, it doesn't matter!

Good luck with your case, hope you pull some Taylor Hall young guns, or a Jordan Eberle young gun.

Sweet, after all the discussion I'm glad you hit big on your first box. Even a former CBJ to boot too. PL was good except for him being made of glass, poor guy has been injuried so many times.

congrats on your first box. it was great you got a patch auto card of someone you liked. everything else was just so-so and hopefully you have enough base for the base set at least. Their base cards are nice to look and you should display it in a binder. it's what i plan to do with my other base sets if i can get around to it.

Sounds like an average box. The patches fall 3-4 per case in SP Authentic, so that was a very good hit. You can always find people trying to do SPA sets so they are easy to trade once you get the hang of things.

Decent is the word. If the autos/patch were better names it would have been a super box. But the hits are decent the Holo FX are two good names so you should not feel sorry.

Would be nice to see a scan of the patch.
