Buyers beware - just a warning...
Just wanted to put this out there as a warning to everyone to beware when dealing with this seller...
Please don't start peppering the seller with emails beacuse all he'll have to do then is close up shop and start over again with a new ID. Then we don't know who he is. Also, let's keep this thread clean and free of name-calling. Perhaps it can become a rolodex of questionable sellers.
Anyway, to my story - take heed young grasshoppers..
(to get the background story, you can search for my thread "Funny? exchange").
I just wanted to let you know the outcome of that fiasco. Card marked as shipped. Never recieved the card. Seller is no longer registered on ebay. Opened a dispute and ebay/paypal refunded my $5.04.
I would like to warn folks because the seller is back with a new ID. How do I know this? He's selling the card he says he shipped that I never received - right now!
For sale now:

"Sold" to me:

I've collected enough Backes autos to know that none of his sigs are that close to the same...in fact I pulled 4 of them to examine before writing this and while having the same basic shape, all were completely different.
The seller obviously most likely scanned the same card 2 times as the card is positioned differently and the scanner bed lint is different lol! But the auto never changes and if you look at the upper right hand corner of the card, the same penny sleeve defect shows.
He doesn't list the number of /50 this time, but I am guessing if he actually responded to questions about his auctions he would say it's #37.
In case you're wondering...my winning auction link:

current auction link:

So, buyer beware when dealing with this seller...

Disclaimer: I've tried to keep this "just the facts ma'am", but some of my statments are obviuosly my opinions - for instance, that this is the same card. Without knowing the #, I can't say that is a fact, but I really do believe it to be true.Last edited by SkidSTL; 12-03-2010 at 11:31 AM.

Seems odd that someone with a feedback of over 1500 would look to rip someone off for a $5.00 purchase? Plus, they had feedbacks up to and including into November. Even if they thought the card did not go for enough, that is the risk one takes by putting cards on Ebay. Maybe they should have put it under a by it now with a price they felt they be comfortable to get.
I am not as active on Ebay as I was at one time. However, what if you decided to bid on this card? Maybe, instead of you bidding on it directly, have a buddy bid.
Maybe you will get the card this time.
Just a thought.

Skid:
Why are you bidding on cards from a guy with a feedback rating of 98.4 % ????
He's got 7 Negs in less than 6 months. Red Flag, Red Flag. Red Flag.....
As the robot in Space Family Robinson used to say.....

I think I have to agree with you. It's too much of a coincidence that two different sellers have a SP card with similar "description" tells. If you notice the "Thankyou" is the same on both auctions. Payment is due within 24 hours (really??) on both of them. Shipping is cheaper to Canada on the new account so the seller has to be from Canada like the main account. Just the people you run into someetimes. Thanks for the heads up.

Full disclosure - my original bid on the auction I "won" was made from my cell at 4:15-4:30 am as I was half asleep letting my dogs out. I just decided to check the bay for Backes at the time and saw one ending soon for .99 so I bid a couple bucks. I was back asleep before it even ended. To your point, I would have never have bid on the item had I seen the shipping cost, payment demands, and shipping methods (i.e. $4, 24 hrs, and PWE) much less the mediocre feedback. Since I was on my cell, I saw the abbreviated description and since I was half asleep I did not do my due diligence on the seller's feedback.
Guess it was kind of like drunk texting only I was sleep bidding lol!
