Panini Peek: 2011-12 Limited
http://paniniamerica.wordpress.com/2...imited-hockey/
Pardon the mixed metaphor here, but it’s safe to say that 2011-12 Limited Hockey will pack quite a wallop batting cleanup in the 2011-12 Panini America hockey lineup. To be sure, the higher-end offering will deliver some unique new twists (including pieces of game-worn hockey pucks and nets) when it releases December 14.
Each box will deliver three autograph or memorabilia cards and four additional cards from an impressive list of base cards, parallels, inserts and the new High Numbers.
High Numbers this year will focus on the NHL’s top goalies and will be limited to just 99 copies. But the real stars of the show in terms of Limited’s new additions are the new-look Phenoms RCs injected with unique, definable patches, Net Presence Memorabilia cards featuring jumbo pieces of twine used during the 2011 NHL All-Star Game and the Game Pucks insert that includes pieces of pucks used during NHL games.
Here’s just the short list of Limited attributes that will cater to discriminating hockey collectors:
- Base Phenoms RCs will be signed on-card and will include team logo patches. (Silver Spotlights parallels feature each team’s secondary logo, Gold Spotlights feature either a commemorative draft year patch or an NHLPA patch and Platinum Spotlights feature an NHL patch.)
- Rookie Class Letters/Numbers Signatures feature signed jersey swatches cut straight off the backs of the game’s top prospects.
- The Brothers in Arms insert includes memorabilia from the NHL’s top goaltending tandems, with Patch variations limited to 25 copies or less.
- The return of 1/1 NHL Shields, 1/1 Limited Cut Signatures and 1/1 Manufacturer’s Marks.
- Jumbos and Freshmen Jumbos delivering wild, oversized swatches and autographs from top rookies and the game’s hottest stars.
- Several on-card autograph sets, including Select Signatures, Back To The Future Signatures and Men of Mayhem Signatures.
You can get your exclusive first look at the product below. Stay tuned to The Knight’s Lance for additional updates on 2011-12 Limited Hockey.

First impressions are a big WOW!!!
Net Presence is a great idea. They definitly nailed it on the design.
Brothers in Arms looks good with the vertical orientation.
The Crease Cleaners doesn't need the jersey/patch piece. I think it will look cleaner without it. Given that this is Panini, I am sure that there will be an auto only version.
Base card looks soooooo much better than last years.
I felt Limited wasn't one of their better products and hasn't held a good value, but this year might be different.

Absolutely gorgeous. It seems like this could be a big year for Panini. I love all of it.

I am still concerned though...besides being littered with redemptions, I felt this was Panini's worst product last year. I really like what they have shown here. Hopefully its not more of this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/LIMITED-10-1...item2c5f9071c9
dont stick the jersey piece in the middle of a base card. If this is how they jersey cards are done in Certified don't follow it up in the very next product with the same thing.

and even worse slap a sticker auto on it.

(I understand if this isn't the place to criticize this product, and if it is to be removed then I understand, but I felt very strongly about this product.)

I agree, I didn't buy any of Limited last year because I was very unimpressed with it. It seems like they are making big strides in their products. Redemptions will make or break the product.

No problem at all with legit critiques of a product. It looks as though they'll be stepping up the hard-signed content in this year's edition, which is always a desire for collectors in a higher-end release.
I'm looking forward to the Crease Cleaners and the Net Presence subsets myself.

Hopefully, they can figure out the redemption problem. I remember Chris from hobbybox opened 3 boxes of these for someone and there were 5 redemption cards in those 3 boxes...he was in complete disbelief. Also, Hopefully there will be a little more value with these boxes. I never really saw a great box from last year, a few pretty good boxes, but for the most part people were getting killed on this product.

I think that should be the focus of all products this year. It seemed like there were SO many last year.
