    Our day at the National

On Saturday, my son (Dodgersalltheway), my daughter and I spent the whole day at the National. It was SO MUCH FUN!! We had a blast.:new_multi We spent a few bucks :icon_roll . We brought home lots of freebies.:new_multi And we took lots of pictures and video.:new_monal The image you'll see when you click below will show:

    a. Top left: The Anaheim Convention Center marquee
    b. Top right: My son (forefront) and I at the Topps booth (Topps absolutely rocked!).
    c. Bottom left: My son and I posing with a large painting of Eric Gagne.
    d. Bottom right: Both of my kids and I posing with famed Dodger center fielder Willie Davis (he went to the same high school as my Dad at the same time). Willie was very, very nice and also auto'd a card for us.

More to come during the week, but I'm exhausted right now and gotta get some zzz's.

    Andy

Wow!!! Looks like you all had a great and memorable time. I'd love to take my two boys to such a large scale event. Great pics. Look forward to reading your further entries about it.

I missed this years but there's nothing like spending the National or FanFest with the family. They are always fun and exhasting.

Glad you & the family enjoyed the National.

Funny thing I ALWAYS enjoy Chicago & Cleveland, maybe I'm just not an advanced enough collector to know better

Nice photos, Andy. There is an article on tuffstuff.com that says the National might come back to Anaheim in 2009 because the dealers said it was a hit.

Btw, did you see the $1 million Honus Wagner card? That wasn't there on Thursday when I went.

Thanks for all the kind words, guys, I think you guys would've loved it, too. There were 2 vast rooms full of booths from card companies (Topps, Donruss, Upper Deck/Fleer, SAGE), hobby supply companies (UltraPro, Sharpie, others), professional sports teams (NHL's Ducks of Anaheim, NBDL's Anaheim Arsenal), autograph tables, and of course. sportscard dealers. Even eBay was there. Naxcom, eTopps, Beckett, Tri Star, & DACardWorld had their own booths (I didn't see an Angels of Anaheim booth). And it wasn't even crowded! There were plenty of people there and ample floorspace for everyone. I'll be posting more pics tomorrow.

No, I didn't see the Honus Wagner card. We actually saw one at the last National in Anaheim in 2000. It was owned by Wayne Gretzky and former LA Kings owner Bruce McNall. And I hope it does come back to Anaheim in 2009--we'll definitely be there (maybe we can even open a SCF booth!!:new_multi )
