Cool Who Am I? Tournament - Contest #9

    https://www.sportscardforum.com/imag...09/08/2581.jpg

Welcom Contest #9 of SCF's "Who Am I?" tournament! The competition has proved to be fast and furious so far. Just as an FYI, I sprained my ankle on Sunday morning, so I'm off work for the week. That means I'll try to run at least two of these "Who Am I?" contests each day this week. Here are the updated standings:

    Tournament Standings

    sivjosh - 5 (Contest #1, Contest #4, Contest #5, Contest #6, Contest #8)

    fitchjr1 - 4 (Contest #3, Contest #5, Contest #6, Contest #7)
    Star_Cards - 4 (Contest #3, Contest #4, Contest #8*)

    johnson7878j - 2 (Contest #2*)
    NsLoki - 2 (Contest #1, Contest #3)
    Star_Cards - 2 (Contest #3, Contest #4)

    roro17 - 1 (Contest #1)
    brewcrew8 - 1 (Contest #2)
    RichSlyFox14 - 1 (Contest #4)
    JesRey - 1 (Contest #5)
    angel0430 - 1 (Contest #6)
    NyFanCam01 - 1 (Contest #7)
    comgrchris - 1 (Contest #7)

    * - Indicates member won 2 points in one contest.

Just in case you're new to this tournament and you haven't read the tournament announcement, the winner of this tournament will win THIS:

    https://www.sportscardforum.com/imag...09/08/2416.jpg

Yes! The winner of the "Who Am I?" tournament will win a box of 2009 Upper Deck SP Legendary Cuts Baseball, courtesy of SCF sponsor Atlanta Sports Cards (www.atlsportscards.com)! Yeah baby!

1st Prize - One box of 2009 Upper Deck SP Legendary Cuts Baseball
    2nd Prize - 500 cardcash
    3rd Prize - 100 cardcash

(SCF staff is not eligible to participate in this tournament.)

For product information of 2009 Upper Deck SP Legendary Cuts Baseball and an innovative box break by SCF's own Samuwry7, please see the tournament announcement.

This tournament consists of a series of "Who Am I?" contests where members receive one point for correctly guessing a player's name from a baseball card scan that I have altered (three card images/points available per contest!). The member with the most points at the end of the tournament will win the box of 2009 Upper Deck SP Legendary Cuts Baseball, thanks to the generosity of SCF sponsor Atlanta Sports Cards (www.atlsportscards.com). There is no set # of contests we will run for this tournament--we will just continuously run tournament contests (subject to my work schedule) throughout the remainder of the MLB regular season (which ends October 4).

Each contest will feature 3 different baseball cards but I've eliminated/altered/obscured some vital picture information. For each image, all you have to do is be the first member to correctly post the pictured person's first & last name (no card brand/year/etc. needed). Spelling counts--misspelled first and/or last names will be counted as incorrect. Get one player right and you get one point. Get two players right and you earn two points. Or go for the sweep and get three points for three correct answers! Wrong guesses will not count against you but at least 24 hours must pass before you can post another set of guesses. The degree of difficulty will vary from image to image. Some cards may be fairly easy to figure out while others can unexpectedly tricky. I might even feature the back of a card if I'm feeling especially devious, lol. Images may feature any type of baseball card (base/insert/GU/auto/vintage/other) and may even be from oddball products.

Each contest will end when each of the three player's names are guessed and then another "Who Am I? " contest will begin (again depending on my work schedule), giving members more chances to earn points (similar to SCF's Guess the Final Price continuous contests). Another "Who Am I" contest may be started at my discretion if a previous "Who Am I" contest has not ended due to a player name not yet guessed correctly. I will try to post these contests at different times of day (recognizing that members are on SCF at all different times of day). Standings will be posted after each contest--similar to SCF's "Guess the Score" contests.

Just for the fun of it, I've put together some "Who Am I? contest stats (updated through Contest #7):

    https://www.sportscardforum.com/imag...09/08/3707.jpg

The Time Window is really just the amount of time between the time I first posted a contest and the time when the 3rd card is solved, effectively ending that contest.

    Contest rules:

    1. Post your three guesses like this (preferably with real MLB names):

Card #1 - Homer Walker (or simply omit the name if you do not wish to make a guess)
    Card #2 - Otto Graf
    Card #3 - Hap E. Face

At least 24 hours must pass before you can post another set of three guesses. SCF time stamps above each post will be used to track this. Posts that violate this rule will be void and deleted. NEW: One point will be deducted for each violation. Keep in mind that the card subject sometimes may not necessarily be a player. If you do not wish to make a guess for a particular card, you may omit a guess. But you must still wait at least 24 hours before posting another set of guesses. This means you may not post a guess for one card and then post a guess for another card in less than 24 hours.

    2. As players are guessed correctly, I will post which players have been guessed correctly as time permits. I will also mark on the card image itself when the player has been guessed so check back often on the card images in the initial post.

    3. If no one has posted the correct answer after 48 hours have passed for any card image, I will post the card image again but with some additional image information revealed. This will be repeated until someone has posted the correct answer. (I doubt this will be necessary--SCF has lots of sharp members who know their cards well, lol).

    4. Guesses may not be edited. Doing so risks forfeiture of all tournament points and/or disqualification.

    5. Rude/disrespectful/flaming posts (even slightly) will not be tolerated. Let's make this fun! If you have an issue with someone/something concerning this contest, please PM me. Not promising anything here, but if this tournament runs smoothly, perhaps we'll be able to run a "MLB Postseason Edition" of the "Who Am I?" tournament.

    6. At the end of the tournament, if there is a tie for most points, there will be one tiebreaker "Baseball - Who Am I?" contest. If there is still a tie at the conclusion of the tiebreaker contest, another tiebreaker contest will be held. This will continue until the tie is broken.

Be sure to show a little love to tournament sponsor Atlanta Sports Cards (www.atlsportscards.com) for providing a terrific prize for you to win.

    So...who are we?

Please remember, at least 24 hours must pass before you can guess again in this contest.

    EDIT:
Incredibly, our members solved the three cards in only 14 minutes. Here's the unaltered cards:
