NY Islanders hockey team gets arena deal
NEW YORK (Reuters) - The New York Islanders hockey team and Nassau County on Thursday said they had a deal to modernize the arena where the team plays as part of $3.8 billion project that includes a hotel, offices and a convention center.
"Unlike almost every sports arena deal across the country, the county is not paying any taxpayer money to build the new facility," Democratic County Executive Tom Suozzi said in statement.

Ok, this contradicts this story
There won't be a "For Sale'' sign in front of the Islanders' offices this morning, but if someone wants to buy the team, Charles Wang is going to listen.
Wang didn't seem to enjoy admitting that, but it appears he has no choice. He had set yesterday - the team's season opener - as his deadline for certainty on the Lighthouse project, and the Town of Hempstead let it pass. That was Town Supervisor Kate Murray's way of essentially calling Wang's bluff. So Wang had to act.

Looking at the dates of the articles, it appears there was a deal and it is now off?

Yeah, not sure where Reuters got their information, but as of last night The Lighthouse Project had not been approved, and Wang had announced he was going to start exploring alternatives.
