Did you make a New Years Resolution?

Well... I did and so far, a full week into the New Year and it's starting to pay off!!! lol

My wife and I decided that this would be the year that we SAY we're going to lose weight and we're gonna do it!!! We both started the "Biggest Loser Home Challenge" last Sunday. I AM fat and I wanted to lose some weight (and keep it off) while learning some healthier ways to do it. So last Sunday I jumped on the scale and to my horror, my 6' 1" body weighed in at 279 lbs!!! ARRRRGHHHHH!!!!!!!

So, this week has kept me busy with learning new ways of eating healthier and exercising. Today's meeting of the scale showed that so far it's working out (I know it's only the first week, but I'll take any loss as good news, lol). Today, I weighed in at 273 lbs!!! One week, I've lost 6 lbs and I'm very happy (wife is mad, she only lost 2lbs, lol).

So I'm curious, anyone else make a New Years resolution with plans to keep it? If so, how's it going so far? In the past years, I've made resolutions, but failed miserably at keeping them. I pray that with both my wife's support and my desire to get down to under 200 lbs that this is one resolution that will help me get healthy and help me enjoy many more New Years to come!!!

I actually made a resolution or 2. I am doing all I can to keep my temper in check. My job can make me very stressed out and I tend to snap easily. Unfortunately that sometimes carries outside of work as well. So I am doing all I can to smile every day regardless of how stressful it can become. Believe it or not, this is going to be a major challenge for me. I have always been short tempered and it can really wreak havoc. So that is my biggest resolution. My 2nd one has a connection to my first and yours as well. Im not heavy per say. 175 lbs at 5' 6". Mostly muscle. But I joined the gym before the holidays and my goal is to make sure I continue going as often as 5 times a week. I think this will help greatly with my stress from work. The added bennies are I get to be in shape and not become a shape and feel more energized than I have in the last couple of years.

And congrats on shedding a few right out of the gate. Keep it up and you will better each time you see it gone. Tell your wife to hang in there. It will happen to for her as well.

I started my resolution back in August, its was to quit smoking, and its been 25 weeks since my last cancer stick.

I had good reason to continue with it b/c if i make it a year i get to go elk hunting in CO.

Good job Les!! I didn't really make one. But I want to keep using my wii fit and active everyday. Not really trying to lose weight. But all I do is sit around. I've stuck to it most days.

Good luck with no more smoking! :)

I know I'm late to chime in on this. I usually never make resolutions, but this year I want to make some changes. One of my goals this year is to just generally be happier. Don't read that as me being someone who's depressed, because that isn't really it. This past year has been brutal and unforgiving, and I want to change that drastically. With that may come some painfully difficult decisions, but I've definitely gotta make some changes. Secondly, finding a freaking job!! January 22 will mark a complete calendar year that I have been unemployed. Where I live, there just isn't anything available. Completing this task may help with the first task. For crying out loud, I am 28 years old and completely capable of doing anything, including getting my rear end back to school. I finally know what I want to be and now it's time to take the steps to achieving NOT becoming a failure!!!

Oh, and to add to the Harvick collection!!

Congrats to all that have made your resolutions!!! Here's to hoping that you can achieve each and every one of them!!!

As for me... I've found that it sure is a struggle to stick to my plan. And, it's gonna be even harder if I have to worry about my wife not getting much success with hers. We're a complete package! At least I've made it through two weeks.

My 2nd week's weigh in occured Sunday morning and I was very happy! Another successful week of losing weight. I know there are possible bad weeks ahead, but I'll take all I can get while it's working. Today's scale presented me with a body weight of 266 lbs, or another 7 lbs lost. AMAZING, since my starting weigh in on 1/3/10 at 279 lbs, in just two LONG weeks of lots of exercise, some healthy eating, and many hours of lost sleep (and taking care of my grandkids so much the past few days, lol), I have managed to lose a grand total of 13 lbs as of today. I am truly amazed.

My wife on the other hand, is totally ticked at me, lol. She has only lost 3 lbs in two weeks, and she has been doing just about the same as I have (all except for chasing the grandkids... that was my job). She said she knows that women have a harder time losing weight then men do, but she still wishes she was losing more then 2 or 1 pound at a time. Personally, my theory is that it took me many years to get to 279 lbs, it should take me awhile to get back to under 200lbs. She said if it takes her that long, she's gonna buy some big boxes of lots of "calories" and dump them in my food when I'm not looking.

Anyway.. share your updates as you can. I hope you all hang in there and reach your goals!!!

Well, as of Saturday, I have lost 7lbs in about a week and a half. It's hard, but the Wii fit does at least make it fun. What kills me is the late night snacking that I can't seem to do without.

WTG Les & Mrs. Haines!! Keep up the good work!
