Steve Mason
What do you all think of him? What's wrong? I mean I still think Mason has a real bright future. I think he's gonna be a star. I'm just so afraid he's come down with a case of Raycroft Syndrome or even worse, Carey Syndrome. What do you all think? Should I even keep collecting him? I just got my dream Mason card (SPA FW AU) and really hope he can get back to where he was.

I say, keep collecting him. I just don't think he is having a great year. Similar to Carey Price. one year he is hot, some years he isn't. I think Mason is just playing in front of a really poor team.

Ya my thoughts exactly. I see Mason as having more talent than Price honestly, I just think and hope this is just a sophomore slump. I'm sure if he was on the Habs or leafs he'd be loved as much as Price is now.

If he has Raycroft Syndrome, then there's no coming back. He's toast.
I don't think he's done yet. He'll regain his Calder winning form soon.

I think he'll be fine. I go to a lot of the games here in Columbus, he's started to play a little better IMO. Mostly has to do with his confidence and lack of defense in front of him. His defense is picking up and his confidence will rise again. He has the size and skill to be a top goalie in the league. I think by the end of the year he'll start showing glimpses of that again.

Did anyone hear Ken Hitchkocks coments after the Vancouver game? He said that there was absolutly no defense and that there best player on the team that night was Kris Russel? And he is only a rookie.

Russel is gonna be pretty good, as are the rest of the Jackets, perhaps its essentially a full team sophomore slump? They have such a solid nucleus of players on that team, its scary. Them and the kings. Watch out for years to come.

Russell was actually a rookie 07-08 and the comment was a little more of an insult to Russell the way I took it. "When your best defenseman is Kris Russell tonight, you're not going to win a lot of hockey games," I'm not a huge Hitchcock fan in the first place. lol Russell has been awesome this whole year, really matured a ton and I'm glad I got a huge leap in my Russell collection that I won't have to worry a lot about the rising prices soon.Last edited by v3rs3; 01-11-2010 at 11:58 PM.
