Wooooo Hooooo!!! New Position at work!!!

Well I applied for an opening for a "Tech Support" position here at my job, I interviewed on Monday and was accpeted this morning. No pay raise or anything because it's basically a lateral move but it's something that I have a passion for and have been working to get for the past 2-3 years!

Just wanted to share with my SCF friends!!

Congrats! Even though there was no pay raise it sounds like you are definitely going to enjoy it more than the former position

Thank you! Yes ... I work in a call center (travel agency) and right now I sit at a desk, hoooked to the phones and take inbound calls from business clients to book travel ... not a bad gig but definitely something I don't consider a career!!

Congrats buddy! I know how call centers are (worked in one for over a year) and it sounds like this is a great move for ya. Being happier at your job is (almost) as good as a pay raise.

Yes sir ... I agree with that!
I've been doing this for 10 years now, taking calls that is. I only recently started working with our tech department in troubleshooting the programs we use. When this posting came up I was so happy because I knew that I already had the foot in the door, it was just a matter of beating out a few other good candidates and doing well on the interview ... which I'm not very good at!

great to hear. Where I work we had a woman leave a position after having a child. I was hoping to move into that spot, but as par for the course they aren't refiling it to save the head count. The crappy thing is the team was slammed while she was on maternity leave and we actually were more profitable last year than we were in 2008. Sucks because it's about the only position I could move to and still be with this company.
