Ducks' Ryan could face discipline

The NHL may take a further look at a hit Ducks winger Bobby Ryan made on Kings forward Oscar Moller in the late stages of the Kings' 4-0 win Thursday and determine whether Ryan be disciplined.

Ryan could face a suspension for taking a run at Moller and ramming him into the glass behind the Ducks' net with 7.1 seconds left in the game. He was given a minor penalty for roughing, a five-minute major for charging and a game misconduct (Video below).

It was a pretty nasty hit.

I was actually at the game, it was my 1st game since i was 6 years old. I had a blast

Is it Ryan's fault that Moller weighs 105 pounds? lol It was a clean hit - I don't think it warranted a major penalty. I'd be very very surprised if a suspension came from this.

I've seen Bobby Ryan play a ton of hockey - he's not reckless or a dirty player. Although with 7 seconds left, I think the hit was rather unneccessary.

I agree actually, I dont think the hit was even dirty, maybe you could get him for charging but come on.....a bit over exaggerated

Are you serious? It doesnt matter if it was Moller or Chara. He took a good 10 or so steps and charged Moller with 7 seconds in the game when down by 4. Doesn't matter if it wasn't an elbow or hit to the head, its still a dirty play from someone mad his team got spanked that night

From my perspective, it was a clean hit - maybe a couple too many steps leading up to it, but he was in motion cycling through the neutral zone - he didn't take all those steps with Moller in his sights. It was within the rules of the game of hockey. From what I could see, Ryan didn’t leave his feet, didn’t put his elbow or stick up, and Moller was in possession of the puck. It was a clean open-ice hit. Hockey is a rough, physical game - bodies collide all the time.

I agree with madmax - ryan didn't leave his feet and didn't hit Moller in the head. He didn't get his stick up or lead with an elbow. At worst, a 2 minute minor for boarding should have been called - if that.

Whether it happens 7 seconds in or with 7 seconds to go - a play is either a penalty or not. The hit was clean. Now if Ryan had gone all Bertuzzi on Moller, or even Carcillo-like...that's not cool. But he delivered a big hit, probably to send a message to his team for the next game.

Only those who were a the game would know Ryan targeted Moller - He went full force and can not be sure it was 10 strides or not but definitely went straight for him at full force with intent to hit......Was it a dirty hit? Depends - If you consider a dirty hit a hit with intent to injure, I would say yes...If you consider a dirty hit like taking out someone's knees or going "Bertuzzi" on someone, then I would say no......but he clearly meant to hit Moller.....You will not see that on TV - you will only see the hit and maybe a second before....you will not see the strides he took before unless you were there.

This game was a VERY physical game....4 full blown fights.....Blood from one fight....These teams HATE each other....and it showed that night.....

BTW - The ryan hit was all a build up from the whole game - cheap shots from both teams....Getzlaf and Simmonds fought even!!!!!

If he gets a suspension - it will be for the intent of the hit...not for the actual hit...he didnt leave his feet or head the head but he did skate from a distance to hit him....

Just my take on it from where I was sitting!

BTW - Perry was given a misconduct for a cheap shot....Carlyle said they lost disopline that game...It was very clear to see!
