    Shipping to Canada

Just looking for some information from the US people on these forums who have shipped cards to Canada. How much has it usually cost you to ship a bubble mailer to Canada? I was calculating the postage on USPS's website and just for basic first class mail for a package that I estimated at 1 pound, 5 ounces, it was saying it was going to cost me $12 to ship it. That doesn't seem right at all to me. Just looking for some info. Any help is appreciated!

One package that I have to ship is five cards, and the other one is only two. I guessed that the weight for two cards was about 1 pound 6 ounces since it has been close to that in the past when I've shipped that amount of cards.

A 000 size bubble mailer weighs 1/2 ounce empty, 1 card in a bubble mailer with top a top loaders weighs less than one ounce. Typically you can get 4-5 regular cards in a bubble mailer and still not be over 1 ounce.

To get to 1lb 6 ounces you would be shipping hundreds of cards in a box. I recently shipped 20 Trilogy Frozen in Time cards (thick plexiglass cards) and they still only weighed 15 ounces total.

1st class international postage for a 1 ounce bubble mailer from the US to Canada runs from $1.20-$1.50. Once you get over 16 ounces you have to ship priority mail, which starts about $12.

As a point of reference, a typical pack of hockey cards weighs about an ounce.

Charvey is right, shouldn't cost more than $1.50 - $1.75.

you can ship around 200 cards to Canada in a small box and it will cost about $7.00.

Earlier this week, I sent 6 thicker type cards, in a hard plastic team box, wrapped in an old bubble mailer and sent in a new bubble mailer. It cost me $2.22 from NC to Quebec.

its really not that expensive to ship cards to canada especially if its one to five cards. I get mail from ebayers all the time and it usually arrives quickly and never more then 2.50. There are far too many us people who wont ship to canada i dont get it? its like elliminating hundreds of thousands of potential buyers or customers. My most frequently asked question is how much is shipping to canada 50% say its the same 20% say add a dollar more and 30% say i dont ship there. bah to you 30%

It is not the basic cost of a bubble mailer that causes the "I won't ship to Canada." It is the need to get proof of delivery that sends the cost up to about $12.00. This would not be necessary if receivers in any country didn't attempt to charge back because "I didn't get my item."

i charge 3.75 to ship to canada without registered mail (ie delivery confirmation)
for items over $25, i require registered mail ($12+cost of bubbler mailer)

overall, i love hockey cards and selling on ebay, but i get paid a lot per hour at my job (i'm an attorney) and therefore wasting time at the post office needs to be worth it for me. thats how I see it.
