new eBay Fees have made maintaining my store unfeasible

I am choked about the new ebay structure.

As it currently stands, I have about 300 total cards in my ebay store that are priced between $1-$3. Each of these listings costs me 3 cents (plus $14.99 per month to maintain my store).

With the new pricing program starting April 1, the cost of listing these 300 cards will be 20 cents each (plus $14.99 per month to maintain my store). When counting final value fees of 9%, my margin on a $1 card is quickly decreased to about 75%. (in other words, for every $1 card I sell, I have to pay about 33 cents in total fees, not counting the $14.99 per month to open the store).

Essentially, the only way to get back to the 3 cent listing is to pay $50 per month to open a larger ebay store. $50 is about the amount I make per month on $1 cards.

    Screw you ebay.

Yes, 100 free listings is nice, but it screws those who use ebay to find cards we need to complete sets.

Yeah i think i will be closing my store instead of paying the 49.95. The new fee structure is crazy.

Edit: Just read it in a more detailed format, and will still be closing my store. Basically if your item sellls under 25 or over 500 you are still ok but the fees are way higher now if it is inbetween. So i will close my store and just do auctions from time to time

I wonder if retailers complained that they can't sell a card for $10 because you're selling them for $1. Just a theory.

keep the store open if you want and open a second account and take advantage of the free 100 listings.

I'm talking about LCS with an actual storefront...and I'm not just referring to sports cards, I'm talking about storefronts in general. Again, just a theory. Don't take offence to it.

arent auctions going to be free now if you start them under $1? Then just pay 9% of final costs? Thats the way I understood auctions... so for those dollar cards, just put them up for auction at $.99... then no fee at all except final value... and if it doesnt sell, oh well, relist - its free. Maybe I am wrong with that

This is the reason I like the new fee structure. 90% of my auctions start at $0.99 so I'll be saving some money there. This will also give me the chance to list a couple hundred cards out of my dollar boxes at $0.99. I can list them for free and if they don't sell, oh well, no money out of my pocket. It sucks for the people with the ebay stores but I'm happy with what they've done
