Yep.
I usually snicker when I hear the words "future Norris trophy winner" thrown around..... becuase that gets said about any defenceman that is uner 25, can play 20+ minutes a night (without looking bad) and rack up 35 points.
When they say it about Doughty, it's true.

A LOT of people predicted about 10 goals and 31 assists for Doughty this year.....He is one assist away from that prediction with 32 games left to play
Last season, I was very impressed on what he did being on a young team near last place - The -17 is so deceiving but its still a stst. I thought for sure he would make the ballot for Calder (although Mason did deserve to win it)
This year, He looks so comfortable out there - He skates with ease.....I know I am crazy to think this but I think he skates from end to end like Coffey used to do......
5th in points (40)
T3rd in Goals (10)
6th in Assists (30)
T10th in +/- (+15)
T3rd in PPG (5)
T2nd in GWG (3)
6th in Shot% (10.4%)
16th in TOI (24:34)
If he maintains these stats, he should at least be considered for a Norris....

Doughtry is looking great! Definitely should a top D-Man in the NHL for a long time. As for the Norris he'll definitely get some consideration for it. I think Duncan Keith and Mike Green are leading the charge though. LA is looking great.

watching DD every night i have not seen a better d-man all year. he has an incredibly high hockey iq and frankly he was much better than both green and keith when they played the caps and hawks.
he won't win the norris this year as they won't give it to anyone that's 20, but he is the class of his draft class.

I honestly am shocked at how a kid his age plays as well as he does. His hockey IQ is through the roof, he has GREAT vision, he's got a good shot, he can skate the puck very well, and he's becoming pretty good in his own zone. I'm so happy he's a King!
