Sounds like a lot of hyperbole. Averaging 50 points a game for a whole year is an incredible feat that no-one has ever accomplished(to my knowledge anyways). Even as great as Jordan was(best ever?) and with the freer style of play I can not see him doing that.

I know Chamberlain is the only player to have a 100 point game. I'm not sure about the 50 point average (sounds vaguely familiar - you may be right). Chamberlain was physically superior (bigger) to everyone else though. Players in those days were not the size (on average) they are today.

Wilt averaged 50.4 PPG for one season in the early 60's...

I think Jordan would average 50 PPG if he was in his prime today...he averaged 37+ PPG with far less fouls per game...up the fouls per game by 6-7, and he would have the 50 right there...and the average that fouls have increased is probably more than 6-7 per game.

As for the height of Wilt arguement, that's not entirely true - while he was large, he wasn't abnormally large...Bill Russell was 6'10"...Dolph Schayes was 6'11", I believe...George Mikan was 6'10"...there were quite a few 6'10" to 7'1" guys...Wilt may've been the tallest (not sure), but there were plenty of guys who were withing 1-2" of him.

Wilt by stat is just crazy. He led point, rebound, and assist(!). And back then, they didn't even count block. I am sure he is #1 or #2 blocking with Bill Russell. And check out highest scoring and highest rebounding in a single game. Wilt pwns those 2 lists.

I am pretty sure Jordan got the same calls/no-calls in his day. Anyone else remember the game winning push off against the Jazz?
