Kyle Petty: Danica Patrick 'just a marketing machine'
http://sports.espn.go.com/rpm/nascar...ory?id=4811973
Couldnt have said it any better Kyle.
If you ask me.... I say that her choice to run NASCAR is awful. Her stats dont lie. Career stats...
Races: 81
Wins:1
Top 5s:16
Top 10:46
Poles: 3
Laps led:110
DNFS: 12
Lets just look at a random Indycar driver with about the same number of starts... How about Vitor Meira? And unless you follow Indycar pretty well, you may not know who he is but to refresh your memory, hes the guy that broke numerous bones in the Indy 500 this year.
Races:91
Wins:0
Top 5s: 26
Top 10s: 54
Poles:1
Laps led:456
DNFS: 28
Why not put good ol' Vitor in a ride? His stats look about the same, if not better than Danica's.
Remember, Indycar is a series that over the past 3 years has had 20 cars running durring a good race. Remember, Danica's "win" came when litterally 10 cars ran out of gas in the final laps and she moved up to win. She won because she was slower than all the other guys. idk maybe I am just the only one upset that every time NASCAR is mentioned I have to hear about how great miss Patrick is. After a while it just gets old to me. idk what do you guys think?

well she is 1 more butt in a drivers seat and she wont be a start and park car!!! I really hate that when that happens...She can be good for the sport!!! nascar fans dont like the open wheel drivers ....look how they treated Gordon when he first came to cup !!!

Because if you put Vitor Meira in a Nationwide car, it won't fill one extra seat that wouldn't already be filled. You put Danica in a N'Wide car, and more people will wanna go to a N'Wide race. Hell, I planned on going to Martinsville in the Fall, but now I'm waiting on her schedule and am planning on going to a race that she's gonna be racing at.
It's all about marketing....and with how bad the N'Wide series has gotten lately, Danica is only a good thing for the sport. Do I think she'll do good? Doubtful at first....but give her time. You never know.

For a comparison I thought I would check good ole Kyle's Sprint stats. I put in parenthesis what his stats(black) would be compared one on one with Danica(blue). I know it's Nascar vs. Indy but he should talk.
Races: 829 (83/81)
Wins:8 (1/1)
Top 5s:52 (5/16)
Top 10:173 (17/46)
Poles: 8 (1/3)
Laps led:3909 (391/110)
DNFS: 177 (18/12)
I too agree with Jeremy. It's all about marketing (I wish baseball had a good PR person)
Gotta admire the girl going outside her comfort zone and giving it a shot.

don't think Kyle should complain about anyone else getting a spot driving...
if his name had been anything but Petty doubt he would have ran as long as he did
