PLAYER NOTES
(available at CBSSports.com)
--D Matt Greene did what he usually does, lead the Kings in blocked shots -- with three -- but also did something he doesn't usually do: score a goal. Greene scored the game's first goal, just more than 11 minutes into the first period. It was Greene's second goal of the season, which ties his career high. Greene now has five goals in 282 NHL games.
-- C Anze Kopitar scored two goals, giving him 101 goals in 289 career NHL games. Kopitar is the Kings' leader in goals (22) and points (53) and seems to be back on a scoring upswing. The NHL's scoring leader at one point early in the season, Kopitar had a rough December but now has 14 points in 12 games in January.
--D Davis Drewiske is inching closer to a return. Drewiske, who has been out of the lineup since he suffered a shoulder injury on Dec. 4, might be able to return for the Kings' game Sunday at New Jersey, according to coach Terry Murray. Drewiske has been participating in practices and morning skates for the past two weeks.
--RW Dustin Brown recorded his 200th career NHL point with a first-period assist, and added a second-period assist. Brown now has 24 career points against Dallas, in 33 games, the most points he has scored against any single opponent.
--G Tuukka Rask, who had become the darling of Bruins fans as Vezina Trophy winner Tim Thomas got off to a slow start, lost his fourth straight start Friday night and hasn't won since Dec. 30. Once 9-2-2, he's now 10-7-2.
--LW Milan Lucic scored his first goal in the 10 games he's played since coming back from a high ankle sprain Friday night. He looked like he played a more spirited game. Two of his three goals this season have been scored in Buffalo.
--C David Krejci has one goal in nine games, two in 18.
--LW Mark Recchi hasn't scored a goal in 10 games.
--RW Blake Wheeler hasn't scored a goal in five games and has one in the last nine.
--C Vladimir Sobotka has no points in the last 16 games, one in the last 20.
--LW Shawn Thornton hasn't scored in his last 48 games.
SIDE NOTES/QUOTES
"We have to get back to our identity as a team. It's something that's been talked about for a few years -- the identity of the Boston Bruins. I think that's been kind of missing. Maybe we're thinking too much about what we're doing instead of thinking about what we have to do." -- Bruins vice president Cam Neely on the struggling team.
"It's pretty special. You see the guys reaching 300, 400, 500, those big guys, and it's pretty nice. Now I've got it started, a little milestone, and I'm ready to score a couple more now, too." -- Kings center Anze Kopitar, who scored the 100th and 101st goals of his NHL career.
And end this GDT with a FROZEN MOMENT!!! ANZE KOPITAR WITH A HATTRICK
